    I am sad to see the LEO got hit and am tickled pink the bad guy got DRT.

    It's a shame he didn't stay behind cover/concealment. but I am glad he survived it nonetheless. I hope if faced with a similar situation I make better decisions. His partner had a better idea, engage the bad guy from a distance with a rifle.

    Glad the Trooper wasn't more seriously injured and very glad the state won't have to spend tax dollars having to feed ,house and try the shooter.

    This stuff bothers me right now because one of my grandsons is in the process of becoming a State Trooper...tried talking him out of it but he has his mind made up...if he makes it I will certainly support him but with the current open Season on LEOs it really bothers me.

    This incident occurred in Feb of this year and is a great training aid for any LEO. The suspect was shot by the second trooper if I remember correctly who was approaching from the rear with the carbine.

    IFAK was deployed quickly and effectively by the wounded trooper and his backup and the quick actions of the aircrew to fly him themselves to University MC in San Antonio was a wise choice as they were already hot on scene and it was not an injury that mandated ALS or air evac but was much faster than waiting on EMS to dispatch and then make the return to UMC or SAAMC North.

    That officer was bleeding like a stuck pig! The shot fired by Jose hit an artery.
    The officers get the Allen Griggs Honorary Paramedic of the Day trophy, because look how quickly they applied the tourniquet. They saved that officer's life.

    I wonder if the bad guy was an illegal immigrant.
