Hurricane Florence, Cat 5?

The storm is currently around 400 miles south of Bermuda and is moving at 16 mph (26 kph).

The center of the titanic storm is expected meander Thursday, Friday and Saturday over a stretch of coastline saturated by rising seas, inundating several states and triggering life-threatening floods. Seven-day rainfall totals are forecast to reach 10 to 20 inches over much of North Carolina and Virginia, and even 30 inches in some places. Combined with high tides, the storm surge could swell as high as 12 feet.

    They are predicting it's going to park itself over the inland coast for three days dumping rain,not a good sign from a Harvey survivor here from personal experience.

    I am on the edge of the 18"-24" rain prediction. We had epic flooding in 1985...this could rival that...

    I made it through Hazel and I was only three months old and I will make through this bitch too. Got plenty of groceries and a good strong brick house on a good high piece of property. Good neighbors too.

    Ricci/Shilowar, hang in there. I know you?re as prepared as possible. When ya can, keep us updated on how things are going while ya ride this damn thing out. (I know I?m way north of you guys, but there are a couple of spare rooms at my place you?re welcome to if the need arises. Pets welcome too.) I?m not as good a cook as Donna and Oakie but I?ll keep ya fed.

    Which part of climate change is a Hurricane? or are Hurricanes a top level climate change category all to themselves?

    Thought Hurricanes might be attributed to climate change and did a little research --- Voila:
    "Hurricanes are absolutely being affected by our changing climate, in many ways. As the world warms, the rainfall associated with hurricanes is becoming more intense; they are getting stronger, on average; they are intensifying faster; they are moving more slowly; and, as sea level rises, the storm surge from these events can be more damaging."

    Absolutely !!! No arguing with that entire statement and all referenced articles and statements. Note global warming is the main culprit. Global cooling can cause other global disasters.
