Llama Mini-Max .45

My son just bought one of these for $200. Great shape. Supposedly mfg. in 1997. I've always thought these weren't worth the powder! Any comments? Thanks

    IMHO llama and star were both putting out some well built gums with decent quality control in that time frame - towards the end

    I have a variety of mostly early Spanish firearms of various manufacture of origin - and while I am aware of the strong universal belief often handed down and repeated that all Spanish handguns are cheap poorly made knock offs I have found in most cases these oft maligned pieces are surprisingly well put together and user friendly

    had a couple llama especial XV 22lr years ago...nifty single action but always heard the metal was a tad soft ??...now a sleeper in my book is the erma werke design American arms PK22 made in KC Mo....a double action small 1911 clone, single safety with the bonus that it is all made of stainless steel blackened...NO pot metal..got 4 , one NIB

    Hello "asop" - First I think he got a good buy. I have a Mini-Max in 9mm. Very solid machine with the 1911 features i.e. grip safety - no magazine disconnect. The extra magazines were available on GunBroker from Numrich (I checked to see about the .45 magazines but did not see any).

    I also have a Star in .380 that looks like a miniature 1911 - also a very solid machine - but no grip safety and does have a magazine disconnect. I like the fact that you can put the safety on with the hammer down and then both the slide and hammer are "locked-up" as it was at one time a bed-side arm.

    Ive got a (I think #1) full size .45 Llama, only problem Ive had with it in 15 years is the ejecter is part of the aluminum frame,and has worn to a knife edge and throws the emptys straight back.
    I keep my hat brim pulled down and let em rain off.


    Swmbo got one down her bra, and refuses to shoot it anymore [:D]

    Never owned one, but working gun check I have handled a number of Llamas in various calibers. All seemed well made and all handled very nicely. Parts supply being nonexistent is what keeps me from taking the plunge.

    Got a Llama Omni 9 MM. It only came with one Mag and there are no others to be had. I now have 3 but paid a small fortune for them.

    Something about copyright infringement. But the Mags they copied will not work in it.

    I should have mentioned it came with an orig. extra mag. Maybe he's smarter than old dad thinks[:0]. Appreciate the replys.
