Trip PICS Pisgah Cradle of Forestry
We really enjoyed the "Cradle of Forestry" in Pisgah National Forest last time we took the Biltmore trail which taught you a lot about the original forestry efforts so this time we took a different trail, equally educational and cool.
Had this engine driven saw displayed
I tried to get Kathy to lay across it so I could take her picture but for some reason she wouldn't.
They showed how the logs were loaded and taken by train out of the woods.
I got my foot stuck and the TRAIN was coming!

That looks like a Shay locomotive. 0 -

The Shay loco had the vertical cylinders on the side of the loco. The one in the picture is called a Climax. There are 2 cylinders, one on each side. The round things are the caps on the end of the cylinders. 0 -

When I saw ?Pisgah? in the title this is what came to mind so at first I thought you were joking.. in the middle of the desert and not a dang tree for sixty miles in any direction!
