Laser Engraved guns...pic heavy
About 9 months ago we decided to get a large laser engraver, the idea behind it was to do our own special edition guns and be able to offer the business's that want to do a promotional gun giveaway some better options to customize the guns.
I know its not everyone's cup of tea but here are a few of the things done so far. We have stayed rather busy at it making our own "special editions" as well as promotional items for business's, we have done single guns for customers, banquets, business's up to 100 gun special editions or 75 for business promotions.

We are going to end up doing roughly 100 of the Benelli Ethos shotguns for a Seed companies reward program:
A special birthday present:
We are doing a whole series of Wildlife of ND, here is the "antlered edition" We sold all 50 of these in two days during our Fall Sale:
Here is our "ND Edition", one some of these we have Henry do special serial numbers and this is one, the Serial numbers are 1889ND01-1889ND100.
Here are some odds and ends we did like these christmas ornaments were are working on perfecting and will be selling shortly:

We've been playing around with engraving photos also but not something we want to get into too much, they take too much time to get the file right and we like to stick to gun related work but it was kinda cool so just thought I'd share:
Just a fun little sideline we have going, the was a user on here, Pacman, that sent me some stocks for free and said he'd consider it payment if I posted some pics. Most of the gun companies we work with on these have been great to work with, especially Henry. We have had a great working relationship with Henry for years now.
Thanks for looking and yes, like I said above, I realize special edition guns are not everyones cup of tea but I hope you liked the pictures. All the pictures were just taken with my cell phone camera so take my word that they look better in person.[:)]

So many ideas....so nice looking!
I'd be finding things and trying to talk everyone into doing something to their guns, keychains, picture frames, tools, toilet seats, and anything else they'd let me turn into something special.

It's a Boss 2436. It is a CO2 laser so it does not do metal but we plan on getting a fiber laser for metal this winter.0 -
Want to sell some thing Fast Put the Eagle Globe and Anchore on it or just a simple USMC.
Got one for my Kimber Raptor like this one. Kimber no longer carries it.
Mine is in Rosewood and looks way better than that does.0 -
You know I think you do good work and have given you my personal thumbs up to people bringing proposals of your work to their higher ups...
I hope you are aware of that - that I have offered my support (if anybody cares - you do the hard work)
In my personal opinion this type of embellishment work often creates a strong bond with the individual who receives the item (and with their family)
I have 3 such award or thanks guns (MV Rod & Gun Club / US Olympic Training Center - CCI Green Tag)
And received some stuff as a founding member and officer if the NRA Golden Eagles
Here in lies the rub. I take the guns out and shoot them lightly and sparingly - and they get a special cleaning prior to being racked.
Most collectors have and do call me an idiot and a fool for doing so.
Sadly on many of these guns the collectors value drops the second the box is opened.
Please don't consider this a bad review of your work

Like I said, they are not everyones cup of tea.
As far as value goes...it goes both ways. Many lose value, many stay the same and many go up.
Look at the recent Ruger 10/22's, The first animal they did, the gator, sold for $379.99 about three years ago. Now try and find one for under a grand. Same with the 10/22 cattle drives and American farmers(Last AF we sold for around $1850 on here)
Many of the super fancy $3000 local editions Marlin 336s I see and transfer in for people around here I see tank badly...Except for certain editions which have actually gone up, go figure.
It all depends on the mass appeal of the edition I guess. There are lots of people doing what we do, we aren't the first and certainly won't be the last but whatever someones opinion is of these engraved guns there is a market for them.

It depends, if its something simple like the first one pictured, the Wholesale Ag gun, where its just words and simple graphics it doesn't take long at all. One of us, the computer guru, just designs it in some of the special software we have which takes him about 20 minutes or so and them about 5 minutes each gun to engrave if its a gun we already have a jig made for. We make a jig for any gun we are going to be making more than 1 so the angle of the design is the same on all of them. We also remove the stock to do the work. So usually the turnaround is just a day or two if the customer knows what they want.
For something like the ND gun it takes months, we have to order the guns straight from Henry, We have them do the special serial numbers and engrave the receivers and build them which takes a couple months and alot of communication. We are not really artists so if an idea has to be drawn from scratch we have a graphic designer that charges us $450 per design. We have the graphic designer trained now to make sure the design she gets us is laserable, there can't be too much detail or sometimes it washes out.(Think about how to draw a tractor tire without making it all black, hard to explain) So it takes a long time on bigger more in depth projects. It also takes about 8-9 minutes on the bigger more complicated design plus 3-4 for the fore end. Think about doing that on 50-100 guns that takes alot of time.
This is all after we have hundreds upon hundreds of hours of training, learning, trial and error, networking with other laser owners, paying an enormous fee to one the best laser engraver operators in the country to fly to ND in middle of winter and spend 2 days showing us tricks to make designing work. It wasn't easy but we are pretty proficient at it now.0 -

The engraving is typically only around 1/16" to an 1/8" deep.
Moderate use for???? Shooting? Certainly, these are fully functional and the engraving is pretty tough.0
