Be safe, smart[;)] and ready for anything. Donna and I are praying for ya all, along with a lot of friends and family, that we have in those parts. They say it is supposed to go all the way to the NC mountains, with up to 20" of rain. We thought Sandy was a joke,and boy were we wrong. We are still recovering along the coast. This storm is supposed to be worse[V] Heed the warnings and leave the coastal areas, ATTN RICCI"[;)] All the material stuff can be replaced, but we cannot replace you. Godspeed. Oakie and Donna. PS, Our door is open if you need a place to stay. 8 hour ride, but home cooked meals and a warm bed!!!!

We are fixing to get epic flooding here, and possibilities of land slides. The ground is already saturated and the creeks swollen. [V] 0 -
Even up here in the N.C.mountains people are already clogging up the gas pumps. About every other person filling up also has a couple of 5 gallon cans to fill also. 0 -

Lots of the stations here are out of gas . Eastern nc, is in full panic mode No batteries or flashlight s to be found . Every shipment of generators gone in minutes . Pray for us as we are in line with the predicted path of the eye 0 -
I live in the NC mountains near Asheville. We are scheduled for 4 inches of rain but if the storm switches course we could get a lot more.
My house is on top of the mountain so it won't get flooded but we could have a lot of roads flood out. This storm is a real badass. I feel sorry for the people down near the NC coast, what massive rainfall they will get. Virginia is also going to get it.0 -

Thanks! It's difficult to prepare for the actual unknown. (Just ask a weatherman who can be wrong 50% of the time & still have a job.) But I've stocked up more than usual, checked equipment & have no where to go. I'm mostly concerned with tall trees & the saturated ground. 0 -
I have a daughter who is a Captain at Ft Bragg. She lives in Southern Pines just West of Bragg.
She has been calling & texting me asking me all kinds of stuff. She has never been through a storm like this, and since I grew up on the Gulf she knows I have.
The thing that has her upset more then anything is that the Army hasn?t allowed them time to prepare, but has been working flat out doing regular every day Army training stuff.
I told her to give her own troops some time to prepare for their families when she can, and to just grin & bear the rest. They will decide to do something when the storm is ripping down their flag pole in front of the HQ building.

I live in a hollow between three rivers 180 miles from the coast. In the thirty years I?ve lived here we have never flooded. I can hardly believe the luck considering the local geography but flooding is the only thing I am a little concerned about. I don?t think we will see any life threatening situations here but if I?m wrong I can still thank God for letting me live forty year more than I ever thought I would.
A couple weeks ago the flashing on my chimney and one of the vents on top of the house blew off. Considering the coming storm I recognized the seriousness of this and put it on top of my procrastination list. It?s too late to do anything about it now so I guess as soon as the storm has passed I?ll have to do something about that. Thanks for thinking about those in peril near the sea.

Fox weather this morning showed it turning West and riding the NC/SC line as apposed to coming straight in toward me. Our rain predictions have dropped from 18-24" to 6"-8". Looks like Charleston and GA will get hammered with the heavy rain if this call holds true.0 -

Latest forecast has it tracking more to the south and stalling over Wilmington . Hope Ricci has headed for higher ground . With the turn we get a little more breathing room in my area but still could get 15 to 20 inches of rain . Neuse river is a mile or so from my house . In the past hurricane s lots of my neighbors flooded out .looks to be a repeat coming. 0
