I have no desire to tour New York in the big truck. I have been to Camden New Jersey, twice, and I ain't going back.
I am a company driver and we are often told that we cannot refuse a load. Well if you are a rookie just out of school you surely can't.
But I have 900,000 miles in here and am one of the top drivers.
If they send me a load assignment to New Jersey, I will tell them "One of my minor goals in life is never to cross the New Jersey line again and I am not going to cross it in this truck. Fire me if you want, but then, you will still need to find another driver to take this load to Camden, because I'm not going to New Jersey, get it?
I am in the Texas fleet."
I am pretty sure they will back down. Actually, as bad as Camden is, the worst part of the trip was driving through DC and Baltimore. Good God what a traffic hell hole.

Fire Island is fabulous? I saw a documentary on Fire Island, showed about 90 residents and visitors and every one was a g*y boy. They said that it is famous for a vacation site for the g*y boys.0 -

Gotta go where the money is, there are places I hate going but money talks, I?ll go anywhere for the right $.
This trip was a fun one, started in Modesto and Turlock, Califonia then hauled ass to Nazareth, Pa and Hartford CT. Flew down I-95 for a quick stop at Hunts Point Market then down to Vineland NJ and now I?m in Greensboro, NC. Been running hard since last Thursday after a 2 day break in Reno, now I?m out of hours in the 70 hour rule. The only way I know to truck.
But you?ll drive around Atlanta, I hate that town and everytime I end up there I end up in a foul mood. The hardest city for me is the Dallas/Ft Worth area, I swear them Texans are trying thier asses off to create the most confusing rediculous interchange system in the country. But Los Angeles is a blast to drive in, Seattle is a nitemare, Chicago is actually easy to navigate and NYC is just traffic and tight turns. Orlando, that entire damn town is under construction, get there at the wrong time and you?ll be waiting. Balto and DC, just drive like the locals do and you?ll be fine. Philly, that place is a giant parking lot, plan 30 minutes for every 10 minutes of drive time.
Now if you want aggravating amd a trat of your patiance drive either I-80 in Iowa or I-70 in Missouri during daylight hours. Up/down up/down up/down with bumper to bumper traffic the entire length of the state and car drivers who absolutely panic if they see a truck in the middle lane. It don?t matter if you are driving 85 in a 70 speed zone, they will not let you in front of them without a fight.
Come work for me, you?ll see all 4 corners of the USA and everywhere inbetween! [:D]0 -
