Getting Ready for Winter
It has been my habit for the last 20 or so years to carry a small silver flask in my jacket pocket. I acquired it at an antique show with the story it was a lady's flask during Prohibition.
It holds about one ounce of a good spirit. You never know when you're going to get a snakebite, help birth a baby, or need to sterilize medical instruments.
While one ounce is fine for my needs, I would never have enough to lend a stranger in case he was snakebit too.
Lo and behold, while in Wally World picking up some vino, what do I see hanging from the shelf but an eight ounce stainless steel hip flask! It was under five bucks, so I toss one in the basket.
Don't go to the camping section as they are twice the price, go to the wine aisle. It doesn't come with a funnel. I usually just ask my Doc for the one of the little funnels he looks in my ears with. [:p]
If any of you live where you have those pesky ice snakes, it doesn't hurt to carry some antivenom for you and your mates. [;)]

BTW; The new flask says not to keep it loaded over three days. My little silver flask kept it's potency for over a year just fine.

Been drinking 'Snow Snake' medicine before I was legal. Michigan and Southern Ontario have nasty Snow Snakes, but just about any liquor will ward them off.

The only problem with that is that we have an open container law here in Utah. So if it's not in a sealed bottle or can, then it's against the law to have in your vehicle or on your person in public[V]
Although here Utah if I were to get one for snow snake, I would have to get this one. We have a lot of snow snakes.[V]

I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods, but each open container is a separate violation[V]
I had a guy that worked for me they got 450 open container violations in one pullover while he was taking a bag of empty beer cans down to the recycler.... He would have been okay if he would have have them in his trunk and not in the passenger compartment...[V][V]
When he told me that, I told him it doesn't pay be green does it...0 -
I always carry a flask in my vest or coat pocket while hunting.
Usually a nice Bourbon. It's always nice to toast a good hunt or a good day with friends.0
