That?s funny! When my wife and I were newly married and living down that way, we used to take a picnic lunch down to the beach entries to sit and watch all the tourists and idiots get stuck in that deep, soft sand. Always funny to see the guy in a minivan or Cadillac stop, eyeball it, then go for it. Hahaha! 0 -

It happens a few times a year, and the average tow bill is two thousand dollars. Takes about 45 minutes. 0 -
Went to Ocean Shores last week. Saw 2 cars stuck in the sand. One was a front wheel drive only car-- don't know what kind. Took about 10 people a couple hours to get it out. No danger from the tide. Next day it was a Prius. Spin the front tires and see how deep you can go. I left before they figured it out. Again, they were above the tide line. Parked my Subaru on hard packed, damp sand, and left with no problem. Even with 4-wd, I have no desire to challenge the tide. I really hate to see one of these cars out in the soft, wet sand, stuck, with the tide coming in and covering it. I have seen it 0 -
They have or maybe had a stretch of beach near Pismo Beach where you could drive on hard packed sand. My wife was driving & when a car came toward her she drove off into the soft sand. I yelled at her to keep moving & get back & she asked, Why? Well she quickly found out, why.
Several nice people quickly came to push us out, after they could stop laughing.0 -

I've been on that road. It's on the Outer Banks of N. Carolina in Corolla. The road, Route 12, is paved for miles and then runs out and turns into beach. There's one turnaround before you hit the sand but he was obviously lost and didn't realize he was going to run out of road. His GPS told him to keep going! It took a 60-ton wrecker to get him out!
COROLLA, NC - A tractor-trailer driver who was following GPS directions got stuck in the sand in the Outer Banks.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that the big rig drove off the end of N.C. 12 Monday, getting stuck in deep sand a few feet from the surf.
The trucker was reportedly following a GPS signal before they realized the pavement was coming to an end. They tried to turn around on the beach, but became bogged down in the deep sand, Carl Seto, owner of Seto?s Towing and Service Center, told the newspaper.
The semi was stuck for about two hours until a wrecker was able to free it from the sand.
Thankfully, no one was injured.0 -

Aint the first time a GPs has gotten one of us in trouble, I remember an Arizona road mine took me down, that was a bad day!0 -

It's Heartland. Use to be a real good company to work for about 13 years ago, till the son took over.

Rob, I think you may be right, I saw that gold stripe that looks like the OO Swift driver trucks, but the pattern is the red Heartland stripe.
Had BSR on the phone yesterday morning telling him about a Heartland driver trying to back a 53' into a door, and had the whole yard blocked for more than a half hour.
I'm on "modified work duty" from a torn rotator cuff, so I'm out in the yard all day doing safety observations on our drivers. Some of these delivery drivers make our drivers look real good. There's a couple that make you wonder how the hell they got a license!0 -

Still there, and the trick is to stay below the tide line where the sand is packed. Winching the dummies out would pay for my whole weekend there, and I never ran out beer.[:)]0
