Mechs Question

When working on tractors and such when You have to work on a raised bucket or under a raised bucket. What are the thing called you put on the hydraulic cylinders to keep them from coming down.

Used them in the Marines but cannot find them now.

    go around the piston rod.

    Positive Supports go between frame and lifted item.
    [usually when removing the cylinder]

    That is what I'm looking for but every search I do comes up with something totally wrong.

    I guess you shouldn't say you wanted to know what the device that goes around a hydraulic cylinder if you didn't want hydraulic cylinder safety locks.

    The ones pictured are for a dump body and not very practical for a tractor loader.

    If there isn't one on the loader from the factory , wood blocks or jack stands can work depending on the height you need the bucket at. Or if you want to make your own cylinder stop use a piece of heavy angle iron and cut it to the length you need for your desired height. You have to figure out a method to keep the angle iron from slipping out if something were to happen but that's not too terribly difficult. Either make a bracket that attaches to the loader or strap it to the cylinder.

    these are what you are talking about I think. These are stackable and come in different sizes for different rams.This set is specifically designed to service a garbage truck bu can be used for other things of course.
