Mail Problems Here
If any of you have been trying to do business with me by mail, you may be wondering what happened.
What happened was a package containing mercury broke and spilled in the distribution center in Coppell. That's where all our mail goes before it goes somewhere else, and it's the last stop for incoming mail before it gets here.
Yes, I know it is illegal to send hazardous material like mercury in the mail, whoever sent it is probably in a lot of trouble.
Anyhow, the distribution center is out of service until a hazmat crew can get the mess cleaned up. It sure seems to be taking a long time to clean up a little spilled mercury, something we used to play with as children.

That sucks for the whole community depending on that post office distribution.
When I was in junior high school we had a big jug of mercury in science class we used to PLAY with. It really is cool stuff.

Mercury exposure is what got me into "Heavy Metal"[:D]
Had a lot of wounds saturated with mercurochrome in my day. Still have a very old bottle of the stuff in my medicine cabinet.
Kind of like LEAD, I'm not saying that it isn't harmful for you but all the hype with HAZMAT just gives geeks a good paying job! IMHO of coarse.0 -
My brother and I played with mercury all our lives. Dad was an electrical contractor, and all the old mercury switches were emptied into a flask that Dad sold to a local sign shop. We always found some spilled and fooled around with it until it fell through the floor boards in the back of the shop, or scattered so bad we couldn't find it. Probably a superfund site now, if the feds knew where it is. 0 -

I seem to remember a way to collect it once it breaks up. My mind is real fuzzy on this so I'm not sure what we made up. Cause my supply of it was so small I had to really work to keep it.0 -
Forth grade ..1959....for show and tell I brought in a Ponds Cold cream jar full to the brim with mercury.
Mrs. Kane passed it around the room so everybody could stick their finger in it.
She was hardcore....for Mothers Day every student had to bring in an empty dry gas can so we could paint it and give it to Ma for a bud vase....0 -

That's 2 government agencies working hand in hand, the Postal Service and a EPA cleanup team......don't expect a lot from either [V]. It may be a year or so before getting your mail [:D] 0 -
