Telescopic stabilizing brace

Was in the local gun store. That has the most extensive inventory, of AR's and accessories.

The salesmen was demonstrating the above, for a customer. He swore up and down it was legal. To use on any pistol length AR. And the BATF has approved it, for pistol length AR's.

When extended, it appears to me. To be the same length as a A4 stock. He said as long as there are no witnesses. It was between you and god. If you stuck your arm into the stabilizing brace, and used it that way.

Half way tempted to buy it. But it was almost 2 benjamins. Not going to spring, that much coin. Till I know factually, that it is legal to use on a pistol length AR.

Any knowledgeable input, would be appreciated.





EDIT #1,

I don't recall, which particular brand/model, the guy at the fun store was pushing?

I presume, there made by different manufacturers? Are they all legal, as far as the BATF is concerned? And are some less expensive. Including state sales tax. It would cost me over $200, if I was to buy it locally.

    Not extended in pic but works great 7.5" 7.62x39. Very noisy. 1 dead coyote to date at 100 yd. Vortex strike fire red dot.

    You're referring to the SB SBA3 brace i assume. I have one on my Colt Commando P, and it runs off a carbine buffer tube.

    I have an SBA3 brace but I am confused to how it is legal. I thought the buffer tubes on pistols could not accept a rifle stock and the SBA3 uses a standard six position tube.

    Got a "brace-stock" like that on my Evo. So cool looking, love it. [:)]
    Found an article on Siri that the ATF reconsidered it in 2017, as far as I know it is ok.?[?]

    It is because the design is not "intended" to be used as a shoulder stock...it is a brace. At present, misuse of a brace does not change the design.

    I agree with that. The buffer tube is my issue, it was originally designed for a stock.

    You can use a carbine buffer tube on a pistol...so long as you don't have a shoulder stock attached to it.

    Just bought one of the SBA3 Stabilizing Braces, from Optics Planet. Same same, as the one in the local gun store, that specializes in AR's, parts and accessories.

    Don't get me wrong. I buy local, when ever I can. But 100 bucks is to much to ignore. For that much difference, I gave Optics Planet the business.

    Just hope they come through, though? I have ordered stuff off their site in the past. Without them actually having it in stock. It really pissis me off. When they have stuff, listed on their web site. But send you a e-mail saying it's out of stock. And you will have to wait for them, to replenish their inventory.
