An Old Dad Memory

My Dad new where a lot of old dumps were and when i was little we would go and look for old bottles.

We found a bunch and i still have what he did not sell. He sold most of the pepsi and coke bottles. We have bottles from when Scotland Neck NC had a bottling plant.

Mainly we have old medicine and liquer bottles.

  Keep them, if not for monitary value but "old rememberances."

  Most people do not know that my little town once had a Coke bottler and I know people who have bottles with the name. I have never been able to find one but I remember where the building was, long gone now.
  Back in those days I think they bottled other brands too. I never cared too much because I liked Pepsi better, but Dr Pepper was my favorite.

  I have learned that the best places to look for really old bottles and other artifacts are digs from where old outhouses used to be.
  
  I have a small collection of old bottles and a full case of glass milk bottles in their original wooden case. Since the last economic downturn in 08, the value for most old glass has dropped to pennies on the dollar. A lot of other antique stuff has gone the same way. Of coarse there are a few rare exceptions.
  
  Our tourist town once had at least a dozen antique shops, now we have just one.

  when i moved here there was an old brown bottle with a cork and wick...full of Dr. Clovers Mange Linament..i cleaned it out and have regretted it to this day ...all you had to do was get the cork out and take a sniff and your sinus were OPEN to your toes...bettern ANYTHING on the market today WHEEEE!!!!

  I learned that old bottles had value when I was a teenager. When I was stationed at Ft Sam Houston I discovered a bottle dump but never gathered any. I was more interested in snakes and spent my spare time gathering them.[:)]
