In the late 60's, two friends of mine were trying to catch a horse
to see if they could ride it. Alcohol and who knows what else
was involved. Farmer came out and let fly with two rounds of
number 6's. Must have been some distance because they both still
carry quite a few pellets from their ankles to their upper backs.
No charges were filed by anyone. That wouldn't be the case nowadays!

Tap-That's really funny, I guess. My uncle was involved in a similar senario. The buck shot used to travel up and down his arms in later years. Use to show it off to us kids[:0]

I remember dad saying he was shot in the back.
he was hunting and got lost, but came upon this old house in the middle of no where that had a barbed wire fence around it with the gate locked.
he went between the strans of wire to get to the house to ask where he was. he just got through the fence when a woman opened the upstairs window and told him the get the hell out of there. he explained he was lost and just wanted to know where he was.
this time she placed a double barrel shotgun out the window and repeated get the hell out of here. so dad went to go through the fence and as one leg was through, she helped him by shooting him in the back and knocking him through the fence. as he hit the ground he turned and pumped 2 rounds from his model 12 12 ga. into the window and her
he had no idea whether he hit her or not he got up and did GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE
dad carried the shot in his back until his death
this all happened in the 1930s

    Boy, does it ever!
About 10yrs old climbing through a barbwire fence leaving a place I shouldn't have been. Caught both barrels in the butt and the back of both legs. Had to run two miles with my friends to keep from getting another load.
Couldn't go home and risk mom with a belt, so I made it to grandpa's house. Seems he had some previous experience with the situation. Soaked me in a hot bath while he washed my pants. Then took me home and told mom I got caught in a barbwire fence.
I told her the truth years later. She laughed and told me she already knew the truth before I had got home. Figured the rock salt and the hot bath later, was enough punishment.

When I was in high school a buddy of mine killed a dog with rock salt trying to scare him off a woodpile. The dog died right there on the woodpile. So, I guess if I ever find it necessary to shoot anybody with anything I?ll just use a .30/06 rifle.

When I was a paramedic we worked a call where a deputy had been all shot up. He was transporting a mental case to the state mental hospital, which was in my town.

The Psycho Boy grabbed the .357 from the holster and shot the deputy.
When we got there I couldn't believe the guy was still alive, he had 4 bullet holes in his face and another in his chest. Yet, his eyes were open and he was talking to me.

We hauled ass back to our hospital figured the guy would die any second. But he lived.
Turned out, he was shot twice in the face, from the side, right in the cheek. The slug did not go into his brain but went under, or to the side of the nose through the sinuses, and exited from the face. Four bullet holes in the face and did not even have a fractured skull. One in a million.

The lung wound, he got a collapsed lung, routine, the guy lived.

But, while we were xraying him, we saw clearly on the xray the guy had a big load of #4 birdshot all over his back. Spread out about 3 feet wide, I would say he was hit from 50 yards away.

Of course the deputie's brothers had come up to the ER, doc asked me to go out there and find out about the birdshot to the back, it was an old injury.
The brothers didn't know nothing. Or, if they did know, they weren't talking.

My father had rock salt in his shotgun. It was on a rack on the wall. I took it down and the inside of the barrel was rusted to crap.
    Don't do that.
