Ours will go up this coming Friday - the girls thinks it's a significant and important event...
Makaila did not expect to be able to celebrate this Christmas with me - she has already been widowed once - and sees it as an important milestone
Mackenzie finally feels she is in and belongs to a family with both mother and father figures playing their correct nuclear family traditional rolls - with love and stability and warmth of embrace
They are for their own reasons seeing this holiday season as one replete with miracles and significant markers
I am somewhat ambivalent about my mortality but I know they need me to play the roles of partner and father figure to the hilt - I must give a command performance
This afternoon Mackenzie called from campus and reached that she wanted to be involved in the tree selection and pick up and set up and decoration...
She ended the conversation with "I love you dad" and I have been a wreck for hours - I try my best to support and mentor her - I took the adoption seriously. I can never have my own children and twice now the has called me dad or referred to me as her father - and I am at a loss to describe how that feels - because I do my best but am not worthy.
I am blessed to have them - I have been a burden and cannot fathom why they still love me.mike0 -

its been about 10 years since we had one put up .
wife use to go all out on all holidays but after the kids grew up and no grand kids, not so much
I do miss seeing the kids ours nieces and nephews ( when much much younger ) opening presents on Christmas morning when Santa clause was still real to them [^]0 -
Mike , it is easy to be a parent , takes no special talent to breed . Being a ? dad ?!and being acknowledged as such by a step child or adopted child is an honor of the highest magnitude . It shows you have reached a high plateau in their eyes . I am luckily enough to be in that rank myself and I am thankful for the chance to do so God bless you and enjoy it . From what I have gleaned from your writing over the past several years sounds like you are worthy of the honor so just bow your head and accept it 0 -
Ours goes up the weekend following Thanksgiving and comes down on New Years day. 0 -
Usually we buy our on Black Friday, but this year we're going to get it on Wednesdays before since we're out of town on Black Friday. I used to buy potted/root ball trees so that I could plant them, but only two out of seven have survived...but someday those Norway Spruce will be yuge!! 0 -

About 4 hours now. Littlest one we?ve ever had, about 7.5?. Went with my daughter and her family, hauled them back on my roof rack. Was kind of nice, my grandson wanted to and did cut both! 0 -

survived stupidity of a real tree fire hazard to many years without torching the house...soooooo....NO MORE....about the time ya got all the needles out of everything it was time to stick another one up.... wife had a fit when i brought in a charlie brown tree so we had plastic one for some years and not sure if that will fly this year or not 0 -
