Ruger 30 Carbine Pistol

My dad left me one but i have no idea what that calibre would be good for.

I know its really expensive to shoot. Its like my .327 just a odd ball round. However the .327 is really comfortable to shoot.

I have not shot the 30 carbine in a lot of years.

    It is a good flame thrower when shooting at dusk.

    Have the Ruger Blackhawk and an AMT in 30 Carbine.

    Both are enjoyable.

    I assume you meant revolver instead of pistol. The 30 Carbine Blackhawk is one of their least common versions, not quite but almost rare. It has (as you surmised) little use other than a light varmint/plinker, but is expensive to shoot and VERY loud. Hence, it's distinct lack of popularity.

    It's probably worth more as a collector/investment piece just because of its low production numbers.

    Hi: I have two an old model and new model purchased right here on GB. Also a WW2 Saginaw M1 carbine. I love them all. It is so nice to have a rifle and revolver that shoot the same round. The revolvers are Easy to shoot with low recoil but really LOUD. Make sure you never forget your Muffs. I reload the 30 Carbine and that makes it cheap to shoot. Jacketed bullets can be had for $60.00 per 500 at Everglades Ammunition, 14 grains of H110 does the job. I have never calculated price per round but is low. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

    I always wanted a T/C Super 14 barrel in 30 Carbine. I figured I could make a really cool handload with some hot powder and a 120gr bullet.

    I have been looking for an Encore barrel in .30 Carbine, and have found Contender barrels, but no .30 Carbine. Nice javelina round.

    I also have a new model Blackhawk (looks like it got skipped down a gravel road, but the price was right). Fun to shoot and yes they are a little on the loud side.

    It is probably not the most useful revolver on the block. But I have had three. Keep selling only to buy another. Think I'll keep this one just to break the cycle.

    Military ammo only clocks 1400 FPS for me. Very loud. Not too expensive if you load your own.

    Not sure what you all call expensive, but the last few times I've bought 30 carbine it was about $20 for box of 50 - pretty cheap. You may have to shop around some.

    Have a 30 carbine barrel for my Contender & it is my favorite.

    Hunting rabbits with a .30 carbine is lots of fun. I also have a Ruger Blackhawk and an AMT Automag .30 cal. I was shooting the AMT as it was getting dark and some people walking by could not help but ask "What the hell is that your shooting"?
