Depression
I have to take meds (3535s) for my depression.
But if I were as bad off 3 or 4 on these boards
I have cut my own throat long ago.
Some off you are never happy or look for a single
ray of hope. Your threads and c&ps sound like
Country Western music-all doom and gloom. Cheer
up once in a while, You can't go through life
this sad. Do you have any thing to live for
other than irratating your fellow posters.
How do you hate so much. I'm sorry for you and
won't let you bring me lower than I am already.
SITAA
If each before his own
door swept,the whole
village would be clean.

Someone mentioned depression up here the other day.
A lot of people have this issue and will not get help because they think it will make them week or appear to be week.
I know a wifes friend that is bi crazy or bi polar and she will not get the help she needs.
She will flip out for know reason get everyone mad and 10 minuets later is happy and wondering why everyone is mad at her.
She balled up her fist to hit me and i told her that i have never hit a lady and i will not hit her but that i would ball her up in a ball and hold her there until got her senses back.
I take 3 different medicines for depression. When my mood gets beyond where it should be my wife will tell me to talk to my doctor. My wife noticices the changes faster than i do.
I also take Klonopin to help me sleep.
I have never wanted to hurt anyone or myself. I would just get moody and want to be by myself.
My depression came from cancer 8 years ago. Im not happy i can not work. I believe i should be working and my wife should be home. Not the other way around.
My wife does not mind me not working. She knows that its not possible. She leaves me a list of things she wants done and i do them as soon as i can.
I have about 1 hour of work in me a day. If i go over that then i will be useless for 2 or 3 days.
I went from being in charge of 1.5 million dollar jobs to reading or piddling around.
I was one of the people who loved working. I averaged 86 hours a week 1 year.
So if you feel like you need a little help there is nothing wrong with it.
As a matter of fact my doctor who prescribes my medicine told me that i needed to shoot more. She asked me what i liked to do as a hobby and i told her fishing and shooting. She told me i should fish more.
I told her that i can not fish for long periods of time due to pain and i hate to go fishing with my friends and put the boat in the water for just 3 hours of fishing.
She then asked about shooting and i told her that i could shoot just about all day if i wanted to.
So she told me to shoot as often as i can.
If you need help get it. Especially this time of year.
Just remember depression is not about wanting to hurt yourself or others. For people who are sad or depressed there is help for you.
All you have to do is ask for help and things will get better.
I will say it might take some time to get the medicine just right for you.0 -
Yes the pills I like to treat depression are 9mm around 0 -
My wife's way to help me combat depression or maybe just to get me out from underfeet more often was to buy me a Garmin Alpha 100 dog tracking system with two collars for Christmas
This is a not subtle hint to get my recently acquired Walker bitch and red tick bitch out and go chase some Mtn lions.
I have had some bouts with depression in my life, but were always cured with the smell of horse/mule sweat, gunpowder, or the scent of Sage or Pine on the wind.
I am a lucky fellow because many don't have these outs to help them.

Clinical depression is very hard for many people to understand. I am not sure I understand it myself but have tried and failed to come up with any medication that makes a significant difference. Cancer, heart disease, arthritis, untreatable staff infection, and other issues pretty much keep me going from bed to my wheel chair, then some time on my computer.
Sold half of my firearms, gave away most of the rest to family. Wish I could get out and shoot or fish, but it seems I am at the point where the pain levels and mobility issues make me just want to sleep with the hope of not waking up.
Never have I wanted to kill myself , just hard to find anything worth living for now. Forums like this become an important part of my life. My computer has become my life when I am able to be up. 90% of my eating comes from the microwave. I seldom cook any more. You are lucky to have someone. Very lucky. Don't forget to let her know that.
My Best wishes to you and all that end up in a very challenging life. Thank you and Mike, and others that make me realize I am not alone, nor am I worse off than some others.

Very sorry to hear of your situation Keith! You are in my prayers.
I also have high hopes (part of my prayers) that someone special will come into your life and share all of the good things that companionship has to offer!

I do feel for all those suffering from its effects ,
when I had my by-pas at 48 yrs old ,
when they released me from the hospital I had a bag of drugs to take short term one was a anti-depression drug I do not recall the name
they told me at my age being young ( 48 ) to go thru by-pass I was a easy target for depression ,
so like any good patient I took all the pills I was suppose to the fist day including the one for depression
I can not say what a terrible night I had no way to explain the overwhelming drive I had to want to kill myself . but I fought my way thru the night I hope never again
I called the Doc the next day and told him what I experienced. he said stop taking the anti-depression pill ( well no crap doc no way was I gong to take another one no matter what he said )
he told me some of the drugs have the side effect to make people feel that way
It had to be one of the most scary nights I have had . I know they can be modified / change / different drugs to fine tune it for each person
. but I was lucky to not need any of them but after that bight I understand how bad it can be , the drive to want to do your self in0 -
I struggle with depression. I live with constant intractable high level pain along with nausea and vertigo and neuropathy and severe nerve damage in my legs - debilitating back spasms - balance and mobility issues...
When the neuropathy is bad I cannot button a shirt
There are nights - sometimes 2-3 in a row were I cannot sleep
I sometimes go 2-3 days without eating
I still have the ostomy and am covered and disfigured with hideous scars - I have a power port implanted in my chest
They don't want me driving - and there is a big across the board push to have me declared permanently disabled - to put me on social security
I lost my house and one of my cars - I have liquidated over 100 firearms - I have sold almost anything of value I had
I am better off physically than a year ago - but the small improvements have been hard fought and come with a price
I was 6'2" tall and 149 lbs my hair was falling out and my teeth were loose and gums bleeding - I was on a wound vac and had open weeping external radiation burns and pressure sores
I was being fed through a tube and was catheterized - I had 2 pic lines - I needed 3 blood transfusions
I spent 12 days in a coma in the ICU - I could not talk and had no idea what was going on or who I was or were I was
I have lost much of who I was and it won't be recovered
So I deal with depression
And now when I have finally made some progress towards recovery I am rewarded with a brain tumor
Personally I think most folks would have taken the hospice assisted suicide route or put a bullet through their brain
Maybe your better then me or stronger than me or smarter than me but depression affects me

Mike when i was sick i would take a different medicine every 4 hours for naseau. They were supposed to last 6 hours but my wife would move them up and alternate them. The doctors approved that because i stayed sick from chemo.
Also take your pain meds on time every time. Worry about coming off when you are BETTER NOT NOW.
There is no reason to hurt. NONE.0 -
Dave,
I hear you - I see you...
Despite the fact that many folks here think I am a pretty smart guy I can be damn stupid when it comes to my meds and my health...
Real men don't suffer from depression they just tough it out.
I am no super hero or iconoclast - depression effects me.

What I fail to understand is why SRI's are prescribed when one of their stated side effects is suicide. 0 -
Kind of seems to me that depression is an affliction of those who have time to think about it.
I ain't got time to be depressed.0
