Older tractors Especially Check Things Simple things Like Seat Bolts My Friend Garry Lost His Life Sat Morning You See Garry Stood About 6'2 6'3 Thin Man Lost an Arm in a Power Take Off When He was a Teenager Since Then a Broken Neck When a Rafter he was installing Slipped and Inverted Anyway he was Down to Three Fingers On his Rt Hand And A Thumb While Riding His Trusty Old Farmall Saturday With His Brushhog In tow The 2 Bolts That the Seat Pivots Up and Down On .... Broke...Dumping Him Over Backwards.......And well You Can Imagine What Happened ...Next... Please Check Your Equipment Guys Garry Was 53 Years Old[:(]

    Sorry about your friend, Roger. Just this summer we lost a prominent resident when he got pulled into a round baler. Another farmer nearby lost his life when the ATV he was spraying with turned over on him.
    My ex-son in law was struck from behind on his tractor by a car doing 65. He was thrown into the air and landed in the grassy median. Only injury was a compound fractured arm. Broke his tractor in half.

    I just took a short break from mowing with my Kubota. It's 93? outside and a kool 81? inside the cab. I just couldn't take the heat anymore, so I bought a new tractor w/A/C last August. [8D][:D]

    I have a old 8n ford we use for about every thing and I think about such things often . terrible way to go

    Terrible way to go...

    I had a friend that fell backwards off his tractor pulling a Brush Hog...his wife was the one who found him...very bad.

    fellow here pulled across a railroad track with a medium sized john deere cab tractor...OOPS..fast freight broke the tractor in half at his feet...when the train crew got it shut down and ran back to pick up the pieces he was walking around in his bare feet trying to find his flip flops...not a scratch...farmer never hired him again

    Getting wound up in the PTO drive shaft of a Brush Hog (or any other drive shaft for that matter) would not be a pleasant 'way to go'.

    I pulled my dad out of a cotton stripper. He was using a stick to clear some weeds and stick got grabbed and he was in the stripper before he could turn loose.

    He didn't lose the arm but did have a nice hole in it.

    Doc said he was the fourth person he'd treated for cotton stripper injury but he was the only one to keep the limb.

    will check my 64 ford 4000 seat in oct.....based on this report. I got some hoggin' to do for 3rd cut.

    An older guy(well known for his stinginess) had a close call when the undersized seat bolts on his IH 706 pulled through the holes as he clutched and hit the brakes simultaneously. Tractor went into a ditch backward but the bale of hay on the back stopped the overturn before the guy was crushed.
