Missouri use to use a 'J' code in conjunction with a 10-50 0 -

A guy came up to me and my partner eating in a restaurant and asked me what a 555 was. Appearently it had been bothering him for a very long time. He was one of those guys with a scanner and a code book but 555 was not in it. I told him a 555 was a CHP report form for a minor traffic accident. I think I made his year. 0 -

We stopped using 10 codes after 9/11. The Feds mandated "plain language" many years ago. On occasion folks still slip up and use them, but most agencies have gone to plain language as normal radio protocal. However you are correct 10 codes are not necessarily universal and that is why we went o plain language.0 -
