  The doctors have discussed having me declared / classified as disabled...
  
  I have been resistant to this - facing the fact that for however much time I have I will spend it unable to drive or do physical work is a bitter pill to swallow.
  
  Having worked my whole life since getting a paper route as a child the idea of now being a ward of the state and relying on the tax dollars of others is hard to face.
