If you saw the reports and pictures of what the production facility looked like you would vomit before eating the ice cream.

And I am pretty certain that at least one of those years had multiple recalls.
Blue bell also has a pretty terrible record.
As a food safety manager and haccp practitioner I know of at least a half dozen other major issues at blue bunny that were a hair away from fda recalls.
Scary stuff.

I am a breyers fan as far as traditional pure ice-cream goes...
And a holiday soft ice-cream fan (medium swirl with a cone in a cup with a spoon - rainbow sprinkles or chocolate Jimmys)...
For truck served fare it's Jack and Jill - and I was a chocolate and vanilla Dixie cup fan / wooden spoon and jokes printed on the obverse side of the lid...
And it's tasty cakes - "F" little Debbie (exception being Drake's coffee cakes)...
And for Italian water ice it's Rita's if a retail outlet must be chosen but I always preferred the fresh shaved traditional fare at the Italian market or reading terminal market or veterans stadium or on south street...
As you may have guessed I am a ride or die Philadelphia guy.
I will pass on the pot head liberal Ben and Jerry's and I will pass on the lbtgq#%& rainbow flag Neapolitan blue bunny / white trash / racist imitation ice cream with polysorbate-80 and monosodiumglutinate and yellow dye number 5.
I would not feed blue bunny to the dog or any of the pets.
And no Peter puffer gelato or frozen yogurt.

My dog (Buddy) gets to lick the containers of the Blue Bunny Double Strawberry Ice Cream. He is very appreciative. [:D]
Neither one of has gotten sick yet. (I guess we are just Lucky.)

The secret to Philadelphia soft pretzels is diesel bus exhaust and pigeon droppings...
And hot dogs steeped in a bacteria rich steel hot tub filled with lead contaminated tap water from a street vendors cart is a Philly tradition (along with spam and Taylor's pork roll and scrapple and anything else you can sweep up of the slaughterhouse floor filled with insect remains and rodent droppings)
However I do not partake in any of these delicacies.
Having been a USDA trained (go fredricksberg) food safety inspector and food quality control officer (primus and SQF) there are now many food products I will no longer eat out of fear for my life and outright disgust.
(Like the Ikea Swedish meatballs that were made out of horse meat)
Don't hate - you can make many healthy food based lifestyle choices for both yourself and the dog that are not only better for you but are tastier as well.

There is that scene in the Blue's Brothers were they are going into Elwood's apartment and the guy at the front desk says "got my cheese boy?" Or words to that effect and Elwood reaches into his pocket and tosses him a can of easy cheese...
I once dated a girl who loved spray cheese in a can and liked mac and cheese with Velveeta - I still have nightmares...
And don't get me started on how many products contain fake cinnamon - or conversely how few products contain genuine authentic cinnamon...
And of course I grew up with one of the worst river rat white trash products of all time - take a boost...
And now I must ask:
Skippy or jiff - smooth or super crunch...

Please tell us no - and for god's sake no nutell or similar substitute...
And like pizza toppings and combinations ice cream flavors should be limited and pure / true...
No snicker doodle ice cream or chunks of candy cane or such.
And you are either a Skippy or a jiff man - so switch hitting or versatile allowed - it's a polarizing issue...
Like Eberhard Faber vs Dixon Ticonderoga...
