The ridiculous thing is that the backers cite some 33,000 stolen weapons in the State over the years as a huge problem, yet almost none of these have been documented as used in shootings.

Believe most folks, if not all, would have plenty of time to check any firearms to assure they are stored according to the law.
This "crap" has lots of holes, what if you don't have under age children and one breaks in and steals your firearm or kills himself or others? Does calling and saying it's stolen let you off the hook or do you lose sleep for a while?
Oh, that's right, you must not have it locked up properly when someone got it. Off to the hoosegow with you[:(!]
Concealed carry, what if someone hits you over the head and steals your firearm and it wasn't locked, then what? etc, etc, etc.0 -
Will it make it easier for your estate to sue, if you could not get to your home defense weapon in time because it was locked up?

Still a good point but is the state at fault? Sue the state? You'd better live, but then, you survived so sue the state for surviving a home invasion? Probably a situation where an attorney would take the case on a fee split basis but can't think of one right now.0 -
