I just finished off 3 fingers of Makers Mark SIV Kentucky straight bourbon whisky - 90 proof - 3 fingers of Jamaican ginger beer and one large ice cube
I am half way through a ring size 54 H. Uphmann limited reserve short fat stubby cigar - lit with oversized scratch head ignition matches from Ecuador
I have not taken my nightly meds yet (including the pain meds) which are sitting in a leaded crystal shot glass from Scotland (11 pills)
The fireplaces have been topped off with scrap lumber and apple tree branch sections still in their bark along with some rose bush branch clippings bundled with twine (and about a half dozen nice dried aged pine cones)
I have Wagner's ring cycle playing through my headphones
It's raining out and it makes a pleasant background noise
The dog is at my feet chewing on the cardboard tube from a warehouse roll of pallet wrap
The ferret has just taken the last piece of pineapple flavored lesser kudu Jersey and is taking his time savoring it
The lights are off except that produced by the fires
The hedgehog is pushing one of the errant escaped pine cones around with his nose and occasionally mock strikes it with a killing blow

I have my Smith 13-3 out with its oversized houge exotic wood finger groove mono grip - sitting on a silicon cloth - now reloaded and wiped down
I had taken some q-tips and a dab of rem oil to my benchmade axis flipper
I wiped down and serviced my sterling silver zippo with gold wheat sheathe motif - replaced the flint
I have my Morgan dollar and my walking liberty out on the armrest
Fodder for the ferryman should it come to that
Contemplating methods to remove the walnut sized abhorrent growth from the top of my brain stem (inoperable - sub arachnoid - currently dormant)

So I was bad again tonight - I succumbed to temptation and was intemperate concerning temperance...
Tonight I cracked open a bottle of Jack Daniels - the tax stamp neck / lid seal was unbroken and was marked PLCB 1977
and it was 20 years old - barrel aged when bottled in 1977 - making it born in 1957...
So I poured 3 fingers of 61 year old whiskey.
I mixed it with a quarter can of Seagram's ginger ale and one large ice cube...
I re-lit the 1" remnant stub of my H. Upmann short fat cigar and puffed on it for a bit - while sipping my drink...
No Wagnerian rings der nimbelungen opera cycle tonight - I went with Metallica's black album...
No Hawthorne tonight - I cracked open Robert Frost.
I took out the Walther toggle lock semiautomatic shotgun and wiped it down - and switched mags on my Smith and Wesson model 469 Air Force military police spec early high cap wonder nine...
Did a basic field strip and wipe - emptied one mad to rest the springs - loaded up a new man (stainless steel factory oem "law enforcement only") (15 round capacity) placed a round in the chamber - engaged the manual decocker - and topped the Mag off
Used a professional barbers strop that belonged to my grandfather and touched up the edge geometry on my pair of medium Gil hibben monolithic throwers
Put a little neats foot oil on the sheath and will let it soak condition breathe and dry overnight
Used the strop and a herters two sided puck style stone to touch up makailas fixed blade cricket obake tango profile edc
Exchanged texts with Mackenzie for about an hour - she is thinking coast guard and polar research...
Trying to not think about the looming appointment were they try to scan and biopsy the brain stem tumor
3 hours after finishing my drink I will take my meds.
And listen to the snap crackle and pop of the fire and the animals sleeping while the hedgehog explores - wishing the girls were home

I went to the State Run Liquor store near me to get some Scotch and I saw they had Evan Williams Egg Nog on sale. I picked up a bottle and put it in the refrigerator.
I pulled it out at about 2200 and poured me a glass..............Not bad!
I like egg nogg.
It took some will power to not drink it all.

I am a Scotch and Irish Whisky drinker, but Canadian Rye like VO is not too bad.

I used to like Bourbon and Sour Mash but I am not too much into it anymore. If I drink Bourbon I like Old Forester straight up.
I like a good tequila too, in a shot glass with lime.
When I am drinking Whisky I like to taste the whisky and not dilute it.
Someone posted about a boilermaker. That used to be my drink of choice..............a Labatts Blue with a shot of VO. I drank a many of them with the Canadian Paras in Edmonton back in the 80's somtimes out of a boot[:D]0 -

I know some will find this hard to believe and disturbing but not everyone likes straight liquor. I?ve found some bourbons are awsome mixed and others are still nasty mixed. The only way I can drink bourbon or whiskey straight is in shot form, sipping it to me tastes awfull. A good bourbon will mix well and not leave a skunky after taste like JD does, Jim Beam for a cheap bourbon mixes very well.
I can no longer drink beer, at one time I could drink Coors Light or MGD by the gallon but now even the smell of beer makes me ill. Not long ago I found Rolling Rock for sale at a gas station and to say I love Rolling Rock is an understatement. I bought a six pack, took it home a d stuck it in the freezer, that night I cracked one open and took a swig and almost barfed when it hit my tummy. Not sure what happened but beer makes me sick. So now it is bourbon and Coke amd I enjoy that greatly.0 -
I used to love Old Style beer. Some friends brought me a 30 pack down to Missouri from Chicago a couple years ago.
I had a few and then woke up in the middle of the night itching like mad. I tore all the sheets off the bed thinking I was being bitten by fleas.
Figured out Old Style beer gives me an allergic reaction - Hives!0
