Physical recovery therapy
Currently I am in a holding pattern - I do physical therapy recovery once a week as a maintenance device while we sort out what happens next
I will have to see a general surgeon and a gastrointestinal surgeon and a neurologist and the oncologist and radiation oncologist and no doubt will be subject to more blood work and biopsies and head CT scans and such before any decisions can be made
Since that may mean more chemo and radiation (this time directed through my skull) and surgeries they don't want me pushing the physical recovery - they want me to maintain and they want to assess
I work out with a female marine Corp reservist with a prosthetic leg - left leg below the knee (her running and training prosthetic looks like something off of the terminator and is recurved metal and carbon fiber)
I almost got suspended from or bounced from the program today - got caught doing extra reps and blacked out from pain - covered in pain sweat
The right leg is just gone - the knee is just a dead hinge
No correct sensory feedback or response - just pain - and sometimes I have to drag it around - though the foot and ankle work in a limited fashion
Eating or moving or functioning or sleeping for 48 hours after pt is pretty much impossible
The pain comes in cycles and waves - even when cold you break out in a whole body pain sweat - and it no longer has bilateral symmetry as the right leg is dramatically worse
But along with what I do at home I have traded fat for muscle mass at least in my shoulders and arms and for brief periods I can reach and maintain 80% cardio and blood pressure is fine
The leg is killing me - the pain is surreal and piquant
Sitting kettle bell work is no fun
They get concerned and unhappy when the pain causes you to blackout - one time I passed out while doing range of motion stretching work - where somebody manipulates your legs while you lie on a table
