Helped folk stuck in hospital vote today
The state and county election board set up a special mobile voting machine and last minute absentee / mail in ballot voting at the hospital...
I don't know exactly how that works - but seems like a good idea to me.
I know that ID's were checked and signatures and such were verified - I never heard of such a program or capability.
Unusual to me was the discussion narrative - most of the people (sick people) we're voting against democrats and liberals and the alt left...
Not voting for Trump or republicans - many seemed to hate Trump...
But it would appear that many of these people who are chronically I'll found their experience with Obama care / affordable care act to be a nightmare - people with pre existing chronic conditions all very angry with democrats and feeling they had been hurt by Obama and his health care programs...
It was pretty damn funny - they had reporters (local and democracy now) working hard to find anybody who would hate on Trump or republicans - and they could not...
As a docent / volunteer / candy striper with hospital id and cancer (using a cane) democracy now asked me for an interview...
After a few minutes on camera telling the reporter (dnc propaganda stadartfurher) that I was a conservative and voted for Trump and kept voting mostly for republicans she and the camera person got aggravated and vocally argumentative with me.
I calmly deflected their arguments and stuck on message - and shortly the interview ended.
I smiled and asked were and when I could see the interview - online or on air or inprint so folk could watch it - got nowhere - they were hostile once the camera was off.
I took out my phone and put the camera and microphone on - and tried to follow up - that did not work well.
They also were protesting about Bible's in hospital rooms - said it was against the law in polling places and invalidated the votes (against dems)
Than they started polling folks - and if they seemed right leaning they tried to ask about medications - saying that certain med intake invalidated votes...
Security escorted them out - kicked them out - and police were called...
I guess my complaint to hospital admin and the police about hippa act violations and voter intimidation may have caused them some problems - oops...
Should I have done that???
They tried to have me removed - and claimed I was interfering with voting...
How come the media don't ever interview or show people who are sick and have pre existing conditions hating on dems or obamacare???

I would like to believe that if they were pro right and pro republican media types complaining about Bible's or violating the hippa act I would have done the same thing...
When I voted - with my cane - nobody asked me about my medications - though I suppose someone obviously impaired might invite questions.
I had not even planned on being at the hospital today - but they called probably all the volunteer folk with id go had taken hippa training certification and asked them to come in.
Did not really amount to much effort - and my time on my feet is limited - but a warm body doing scutwork frees up people (nurses or techs or staff) to keep doing real work.
And it's not like my time is particularly valuable - I figure I owe them an unrepayable debt anyway and am working it off.
Plus I had blood work scheduled for Thursday and they did it while I was there today - saving me a trip.
And security told me at least a dozen folk complained.

Our voting place changed this year to a location where even from the handicap parking area it is about 50 yards to the entrance. The old voting place was only 4 blocks from where I live and I would take my electric wheel chair down there to vote.
Well today I had to load my manual wheel chair into my van (no way to load the electric) . It was windy and bitter cold today. I parked, and got into my wheel chair and started for the door when a guy who was walking past me to his car turned around and asked if I wanted a push.
He pushed me to the door and I of course thanked him very much for his kindness. Now that is a good deed and I am posting to brag for him although I didn't get his name.0 -
Yes that's a true act if kindnesses
When I was down to 149 lbs and looked only a step away from death I noticed that many people would no longer see me - or make eye contact like I was homeless or a leper or a pedophile
It was worse when I needed the chair or Walker - still occurs today with the cane - though I am back above 200 lbs and don't look close to death most days
I am always grateful and vociferously thankful if someone gives me a hand or holds the elevator or a door or offers any assistance
And I still do not like to deal with the fact that I am a cripple - a hideous scarred monster so it is tough sometimes
Body dismporphia and survivors guilt maybe
The nicest roomie I ever had at the hospital was covered in 3rd degree burns and receiving skin grafts and had lost his ear lobes and vision in one eye
Dave was a great guy - and would shame me and tease me unmercifully
I spent 9 days with him
