I had to talk to a government department about some stuff. They were asking questions. The women asking by the sound of her voice was of color.
She asked me my race. I told her I was European American. She didn't know what to say. She came back with I need your race not where you were born. I said I am European American, it's like African American or Asian American and so on.
She said, I haven't heard that before. I replied it made as much sense as the other terms. I said looking at me, no one would think I descended from African or Asian stock, but the same could be said off the others.
I'll probably have the Feds knocking on the door.

I once said I was descended from an oppressed north western European minority whose political and religious freedoms had been usurped by colonialism...
I might have referred to troubles in the mother country...

I cannot remember the first time I heard the word "Caucasian" used to describe a white person, but I was pretty old.
Never cared much for that "pigeon hole" race identifier and I swear before seeing it used as it is today, vaguely think I heard it on an old episode of Star Trek. Describing a new alien race![:D]?.or was it a new flavor of the month ice cream???[:0]0 -

Tell them that you are trinary...
Tell them today you self identify as a fox kin...
Tell them you are polymorphic - and that you switch gender roles and identities depending on the social circumstances...
Tell them that only racial identities that have their own month or special day set aside by government mandate are authentic.
Tell them that you are undergoing the change - your are having the surgeries and under transition - and that such an inquiry violates the HIPPA act and demand to speak with a supervisor or in house political correctness certified specialist...

Grandmunchkin (age 11) was traveling with me to Pittsburgh, asked if we could visit the Warhol Museum. One of the pictures was Michael Jackson at about age 6. She asked me who that was- told her Michael Jackson. She looked at the picture, shook her head. "No- that's some little black kid." 0 -

I generally say Human for the time being.
Interesting in a country where all "races" are suppose to be equal that every government form asks what race you are. Then gives multiple choices that do not include human or homo sapiens.
Personally I believe I am the descendent of an off planet alien race with some possible indigent DNA mixed in.0 -
It's amusing to me removed from the events that rocked my forefather times
They say that we are removed from the bloody and hard fought foundations of this country by 3 generations - that 3 people ago in our lineage the flash point of bunker hill sparked off and sputtered brightly - a providential fuse was ignited
My folk have fought the British colonial domination - they were slaughtered by belt fed machine gun fire and armored cars at the post office during the troubles in Ireland - they were Provo's and IRA in the north in the religious conflict.
They were voortrekers and Boers whose standard declared an Orange free state...
They fled famine and primus noctre the right of first night - they fought on both sides of our war (civil)
But I still say American before Irish and Scottish and German and Dutch
