the drawbacks of cutting your own hair...
I have a nice pair of clippers that I shave my head with a number 1 on, and the wife does the final clean up on the ones I miss. Biggest problems that I have is that I can't see up close w/o my glasses on to trim around my ears, but the friggin glasses cover up the same hairs that I want to get rid of. Getting old sucks..

I have been cutting my own hair for 10 maybe 15 years
pissed off the wife once over it and that was the end of her doing it
its a two day process some times no matter how much I try the most of the time the next day I can always find a few longer strands that were hiding behind my ear [:D][:D]
as a kid my mom cut my hair ( along with about every family and neighbor 0
as a teen I went twice to a shop just because the gal cutting was top heavy and used me to support them as she cut my hair ( I thing on purpose to get customer satisfaction and return customers )
then seemed there was always a GF that wanted to cut it then after getting married my wife did for 30 years or so0 -

Why I still use a Barber. Mater of fact I see him this coming Thursday.
Since My hair has slowed down growing I only need to see him once a month. But it helps that he still does a razor cut on the sides and back that seems to extend the time between cuts.0 -

I was talking about my hair and I too have to take off my glasses I have 4 clip on spacers ? when I cut my hair 3/8 . 1/4 . right ear , left ear and a pair of scissors to trim the rest on top my wife does not want to me to buzz it all down but mother nature is taking care of that [V] for me

I have cut my own for many many years,,I use a #3 guide..I can get around my ears fine but the wife has to even up the back of the neck 0 -
We've been using a Flowbee for years. While not as good a cut as a real barber, we've saved hundreds! 0 -
Only been to the barber a few times. Like others I decide wether to use electric clippers or a razor. Then have the wife finish off the places I cant see.
The only drawback is sweeping up. The plus is saving lots of money and time doing the barber shop thing,0 -
Bought a Wahl kit 15(?) years ago for $ 30.00.
No. 2 all over (well what's left of all over) followed by the ear taper attachments and a No. 1 to trim the hair under the collar.
Every 2 weeks for 15 years is around 400 hair cuts for $ 30.00, plus it takes 5 minutes at home, saving say an hour per cut.
At $10.00 per cut, plus an hour per cut, that $ 30.00 purchase has $ 6,000.00 in direct costs ($10.00 + $5.00 tip) plus 400 hours.
One of my better investments, so I bought a backup kit a few years ago.0 -
I've been shaving my head for several years. The only problem is ingrown hairs. I do notice that when it grows out a bit that it may not be that long before I don't have to shave it anymore. The back is still all there but the front is moving waaaay back. 0 -

I shave my head twice a week with a Gilette Fusion razor. Mostly because I'm not gonna fight a receding a hairline and I don't want to fool with having hair, it's not a fashion statement. 0 -

Same here. I use a Wahl also. Used to be a Sears and Roebuck Poodle trimmer, I ripped off my Sister many years ago. [:D]
No matter how many times I go round and round, up and down, back and forth, i usually will leave a mohawk in back or something. My friends get a good laugh out of it. [:0][B)][^] I could care less. I just go home and hit that spot.
Besides, I've got plenty of hair - growing out my nose and ears. [:D]

Haven't been to a barber shop in 20 years. I buzz off what there is with a Wahl too. But I miss the old barber shops. For a while I went to Just Cuts. There was one girl in there that always cut my hair perfectly the way I wanted it. Nobody else ever was that good.
When I was growing up in the 50s, the local barber shop had 3 barbers. I always tried to get my favorite, and dreaded one of them. Back then you usually took the next one open, if you were a kid. But you usually got the same cut no matter what you asked for. Thought I was really grown up when they started putting the hot lather on and shaving the back of my neck. Then came the final puff of the talcum brush. Cool, daddy-o.0 -
like I posted as a kid my mom cut all our hair , some of the neighbors and many cousins and uncles hair
Now my dad use to go to a small barber shop on the same block we lived on
same fellow owned and worked thee his whole life . I think now it was Dads only "luxury " he ever spent money on himself for
at that time I would guess no more than 2.00 or so .

I just have the old lady cut 2-3" off the bottom of my ponytail once a year to straighten up the ends.
None of my 14 grand kids and of course my great granddaughter have ever seen me without a ponytail below my shoulder blades, and of course I still have a full head of hair with no gray in it yet.0 -
Easy peezy with a razor, hair problems are taken care of daily after showering. 0 -

Got a haircut yesterday at the Peluqueria. Why cut your own hair when a scissor cut, mustache trim, razor cut at hair line costs less than two dollars and it's easy on my eyes. [:D] 0 -

I need a beard trimmer that will last, I?ve gone through several and my beard js so stiff that after a few weeks I feel like I?m being plucked instead trimmed.0
