More trucker stuff to make people hate us more
The ATA, American Trucking Association better named the Anti Trucking Association and the FMCSA are killing small business trucking. There is a ton of things wrong from high taxes to heavy handed unfair regulations geared to kill small trucking companies. Most company drivers are oblivious to the problems we face and only care about getting paid on Friday and gladly do as thier government masters say.
Whole this convoy and shutdown didn?t accomplish much it is only the beginning, there will be more. Sadly I missed this, I am 100% for trucker cival disobediance and am 100% for a forced strike.
But look at those beautiful trucks, those horns, screw the haters, I love it [:D]

Been involved in a couple but not recently. I started one that ran I-70 from Indy to Columbus, OH, 45MPH both lanes blocked the entire way and was interviewed with several other drivers by local Columbus TV news at the Pilot truckstop in Columbus.

So being a major a-hole to other drivers serves what purpose? Other than to make them hate semi drivers more so?

My brother is an owner operator too. He has one truck a Peterbuilt long nose (?) that he has driven for MERCER for eleven years. His safety record is perfect. Have you considered driving for one of the outfits like MERCER? They have a pretty strict yearly inspection but the pay is good. 0 -

The independent owner/operator is being deliberately squeezed by governments and by the larger organized trucking companies.
Just as large retailers lobby for laws and regulations that are designed to put mom and pop operations out of business, the larger trucking companies and no doubt the unions that represent their drivers lobby to eliminate the completion from the independents.
The answer (as in most things) is less government, but the leeches in Congress cannot resist the urge to lord over anyone and everyone.

There are some changes coming, the FMCSA actually is considering relaxing some of the HOS rules and had a comment period not long ago and you can damn well bet I flooded thier inbox. Now I?m sure a few people roll thier eyes thinking about me doing that but trust me, I only act silly here and can actually have a discussion and sound normal, but don?t tell everyone because that would ruin the fun [:D]
They are also proposing changes to the CSA scoring system which right now is rigged in favor of large fleets. Swift can have one fatal accident per day amd not change thier score but for me 1 mistake even minor puts my operation in jeaporardy. We shall see if they make it fair and actually go after the large fleets that use fleet numbers (this includes parked trucks and other vehicles, every licensed vehicle is counted in fleet size) to keep thier ratings favorable.0 -

Again you are comparing apples to hand grenades. Do you realize how many different business models there are in transportation and that what works for one is a failure for the next. Just like when the flatbedders enjoyed record rates this summer while other models rates were down and the flatbedders thought they spoke for the entire industry.
Local work, where I live now it is near impossible to get invovled in that and make money, I have a freight contract with the mine my wife works in but the rates are rediculously low and I don?t pull for them anymore. The model that works for me is fresh perishable groceries, right now I?m under a $3.00 per mile frozen food load delivering in Washington. I found what works and am running with it but there is still a ton wrong with this industry and if someone being vocal and speaking out about it offends you because you think your or your nephews model sleaks for the entire industry then you can simply KMA.0 -

And you know nothing about freight contracts and never once did you ask what kind of contract it is, you simply ASSumed and jumped to your conclusion.
I have over 100 contracts and I just finished filling one out for a broker/carrier out of Idaho. Those contracts are not a forced contract meaning you can haul 1 load or 1000, I have filled out many and only pulled one load. That mine contract is an open bidding contract meaning I am able to bid loads as they come available, I did not sign a direct haul contract that was already bid. Those contracts allow you to call and bid a load but there is no obligation to pull that load until the Ratecon is signed which is a seperate contract in itself, that is the one that can burn bridges if not honored. The mine expects thier heavy mineral pallets to go to the east coast for $1.30 per mile average, a person would go broke hauling that cheap, the loads I did bid I bid them at current SPOT Market rates and was declined so I do not haul thier loads. The contract I just signed is for one load back to Utah next week, I may or may not go back to that broker as I have many Idaho contacts but this outfit has a load I want so I called, bid, won the bid, filled out the contract and sent my packet, now I wait for the Ratecon which is the actual freight contract. I am not in a position to bid a dedicated contract, I would have to hire owner ops to fullfill an obligation like that and I will not be putting anyone hnder my MC# just to have it trashed.0
