Brass Fittings & Propane Parts
My Dad passed away in 2014 and i am going to go through all his stuff.
He has a LOT of propane parts and fittings. He worked for the same propane company for over 50 years.
Some fittings i can use but i have no use for flared fittings.
I know my Dad and he would hate for me to sell the fittings or thermocouples, pilots and whatever else he has for scrap metal.

Why don't you have any use for the flared fittings? They do have their place... 0 -
Go find a campground. All RVs use flare fittings for propane.
You can sell, donate, or trade them.
At my campground, people come in all the time with Rv items.
If useable we trade them for stuff like dinners for 2 at our
lodge/restaurant, a nite of drinks and dancing at one of our
special events, free day passes for the pool and hot tub, and
things like that.[:)][:)]0 -
At this point in my life the only thing i am going to be needing is air lines or things like that.
All reducers or compression fittings and anything i might use i will keep.
Copper tubing and stuff like that i am keeping but 1/2 or 3/4 inch flared fittings i do not think i will ever use but i will keep 10 or 15 the rest can go.
My Dad would give them away before he would make money on them.
He can look at a part and tell you what it would fit but i cant do that. Some parts are in their package but some are not.
Who knows what they would go to.0 -
I would wait for Spring and have a yard sale with all the stuff you won't be using or needing. You could even advertise it as your Hank "King of the Hill" propane and propane products sale![:D]

I'm honestly not trying to throw any accusations out here...
But, if he just worked for a propane company, why would he have them, didn't the propane company supply all the fittings? Again I'm not trying to accuse anybody of anything. But if they did supply all the fittings, wouldn't they rightfully belong to the propane company?or were they old Parts they were getting rid of him and gave to him, Or did he do work on the side and just had leftover parts... Please don't think I'm accusing your dad of anything... But it is easy to have a part in your pocket when you come home after work and forget to take it back... Innocently of course. A Lifetime of innocently doing that can add up quick0 -

LOL My Dad did work for people on the side. Mostly if older people that are retired and have little money his boss would let him work on their stuff during his off hours.
Sometimes my Dad would pay for the parts or the older people or the owner would donate parts. Its a little town and everyone knows everyone.
Also if my Dad would remove a heating unit he would keep the parts that came out.
Thats why some parts were in a pack and some were not.
Also my Dad ran the laundromat that had all propane heaters so some parts were for that as well. Plus he worked on appliances so all of that stuff added up over 50 years.
I do electrical work on the side and have about 30 rolls of #12 and #10 THHN wire. That does not mean i took the wire from where i worked at.
Thinking of my Dad taking something that was not his is funny especially if you knew him.0 -
In my area brass flare fittings are seldom used anymore. Most all the propane and natural gas companies have switched over to Tract pipe or similar. I have several 5 gallon buckets of black iron fittings, if I'm running gas I use black iron. I have a chain vise mounted to my trailer hitch and hand thread smaller jobs but bring out the power threader if on a larger job. 0
