Had My Talk With Cameron
About 2 weeks ago he hit and knocked a kid out. The kid did not move for at least 5 minuets. His coach called everybody over to the sideline and told them to get on one knee and to take their helmet off.
While they were waiting for the rescue squad someone made a comment about the hit that was funny and he snickered and other people laughed.
I called Cam over to me after they got back up and told him that the hit was a great one. I told him if you hurt someone that is part of the game but its not cool to laugh.
He came over yesterday and we had a good talk. He even brought the subject up before me. He is 14 and growing up fast.
He is really a tenderhearted kid. I have taught him to fight pretty good with the heavy bag and by fighting me. I still have all my kickboxing gear from when i kickboxed and we use that.
He had someone picking on him and my daughter told him that he could defend himself and not get in trouble at home. My daughter went to the school twice about him being bullied.
I asked him why he would not fight the other kid? I told him that he knows enough that he would win the fight.
I asked him why he would not fight and he told me he wanted him to be a friend. All i could tell him was there is nothing wrong with trying to be friends with people.
Then about 2 weeks later the bully was picking on a girl in front of Cam and Cam and the bully got in a fight over that.
His Mom asked him why he would not fight over being picked on but fight over a girl. He told her that Papa (me) tells him that you do not pick on girls and you do not let anyone pick on girls.
He is growing into a fine young man.
