New York Deputies Close Gun Store, Seize Hundreds

A New York Sheriff?s office has forced a gun store to close and has seized hundreds of firearms after the store was recently burglarized for the seventh time in eleven years.

?This is a persistent problem. For more than a decade the Monroe County Sheriff?s Office has attempted to work with the owner to improve security for his facility,? said Sheriff Todd Baxter. ?Failure to properly secure this store has resulted in a tremendous threat to the safety of the people of this county.?

    They caught two of the perps.

    Deputies said Guzman assisted Sarfaty with breaking into Chinappi's Firearms & Supplies on West Ridge Road Aug. 16 stealing nearly 40 guns. The gun shop was knocked off twice within five days. Deputies said about 50 guns were stolen at the shop in the last week. More than 80 guns in all stolen from the shop since 2007.

    We have a shop like this in our jurisdiction. They have virtually no security. The owner has a camera system that goes to his phone.
    This last time he had his phone off because he was sleeping.Several large plate glass windows, and guns every where unsecured. I'm surprised they haven't had more burglaries as they've had two smash and grabs. The last burglary three young men, used hammers to break the glass, were in and out in 15 seconds took 10 guns...though a row of AR-15s were right there they didn't grab but one of them. They were not very competent, appears like this was a new gig for them, because had they been more competent they would have taken quite a bit more than ten, but appeared to get scared once they got inside.

    There's no gun stores in Detroit or Chicago. Just folks with a station wagon in ally ways.

    I hate to be THAT guy, but with frequency of the burglaries and the low security, I am wondering about the possibility of an inside job. [}:)]

    Good to see someone has a clue. This is just one method of how DEMOCRATS plan to strip away Second Amendment rights.

    State and Local governments have the power to regulate, mandate, and tax.

    Thus they can at will impose costly and strict regulations on specific and specialty stores, in this case a firearms dealer. Such compliance rules can be so expensive, a gun shop will have to raise prices so high to pay for the costs of government, they drive customers away and have to shut down.

    Also bureaucrats can revoke or deny licenses to anyone they don't like or differ with politically: Banana republics.

    Such egregious laws have already forced gun stores in many DEMOCRAT controlled cities such as Chicago, San Francisco, and LA to close. What dumb ass DEMOCRATs fail to understand is demand for firearms will never go away and their ignorance has created many a black market.

    If that place was mine, I would have turned it into a fortress with cement pillars in front. And how about sleeping at the store with a shotgun within easy reach? Good grief, man, protect your stuff!
    Those guns can do a lot of damage in the wrong hands or a lot of good in the right hands. Guess which hands they're going to!

    My shop was broken into in NY twice. I locked up all my guns every night in safes when I closed. I had ammo, scopes, lead shot and other stuff stolen but NO guns ever. They also trashed the shop, broke into a locked desk and made a general mess of the shop. First time they cut all the alarm wires. I had 20 seconds from the time I entered the shop to disarm the system with siren, auto dialer and flashing strobe lights.
