    I participated in that activity for around 27 years. I've climbed with some really well know figures. (Featured in cameos, in those movies.)

    You have to weigh the risks of what you are doing at all times.

    Avalanches, (for example) take no prisoners. I've been involved in several High Mountain Rescues. Not all made it.


    You've got to live life, in order to fully appreciate it. IMHO.



    My Son, is a certified Guide now. (Mtn. Climbing, Rock, Ice, Sea Kayaking, Whitewater kayaking, Wilderness First Aid, Orienteering, Backcountry Backpacking, etc etc.) We did all that stuff (me before he was born) with him growing up.





    Oh, and it's not a "Death Wish," it's a Life Wish. (Again) IMHO.

    I love to look back on/think about the things I've done in my past. Would not change a thing. (Except staying in the Army for my 20.)

    The bodies on Everest above the zone stay there. They are not removed, it is too dangerous to retrieve them.

    I used to fly hang gliders a lot in North Georgia, mostly from Lookout Mountain.
    But I learned about a place where you could fly, named Yonah Mountain.
    Yonah featured a 400 foot vertical face at launch, total height about 1,500 feet above landing field.

    Yonah wasn't an official flying site but I did know a guy who had flown there.
    Well I went up there, and I learned it was where Army Rangers trained for mountain climbing.

    I must say, standing at the top of a 400 foot vertical face will scare hell out of you. But I did make a successful launch and I soared high above the mountain on a thermal.
    I looked down and there were about 7 Rangers, halfway up the cliff face, climbing with the ropes and pitons and stuff. No way I wanted to mountain climb it scared hell out of me.

    They were looking over at me I could see them thinking "Look at that crazy guy in the hang glider no way I would do that."

    I'm all for "trekking" but having my life depend on a rope and a piton crammed in a crack, can't do it. Too scaredy cat.

    I'd hunt grizzly bear or water buffalo though.[:o)]
