A Man And His Shop
My Dad always had a shop where he lived. When we lived in town he had a shop and when he sold that house and moved to the country and built his house he built a shop their also.
He loved woodworking and was pretty good at it. He made just about everything you could want.
When i was a kid and then as a young man and as a man i would go out to the shop and help him build things if i did not have anything better to do.
As time passed and i got older i enjoyed that time together more and more.
He might go to the shop and plan on building a chair and cut 1 piece and sit in his chair and listen to music and smoke. That was his relaxing place.
I built a little storage building when i moved in with my wife at her house. It was so small all it did was store my tools.
All our land was woods but we cleared about an acre and a friend and i built a 20x20 shop with a 20x20 lean to behind it.
I go to the shop almost daily and do small things. When i first built the shop it was stacked about 5 foot high on the inside and you had to crawl over stuff.
Now i can see about 50% of the floor and the pile is about 2 foot high in just a few places.
By spring the shop will be clean and useful.
I found out i also love just going to the shop and turning the radio on and just piddling around.
I just hung all the wrenches above 1 inch in the ceiling joist.
I also hung up all of my C clamps in the ceiling joist along with bar clamps and tongs.
Next thing i am hanging up is going to be vice grips. I have about 50.
If i had more money i would have built the shop bigger but im scared of debt.[:(]
I figure by April i should have the shop like i want it. It just depends on how cold our winter is. In NC it should not be so bad.

Soon after we moved here in ?93, I built my garage. When I was asking questions, most everyone said they wished the built it bigger.
When we got married, I didn?t have much in the way of tools.
Thanks to my father in-law I am well stocked.
I was looking around yesterday and noticed almost nothing in the garage I owned before 1993.
Yesterday, I put my winter tires and wheels on my F250. Took about an hour.
I could have taken them to my friend who has a tire shop, but hey, I saved $30.0 -

I have a shop with a woodstove and a sink! We are talking SERIOUS mancave here! First thing I did when we moved in here- covered the walls with pegboard from floor up. Yeah, I got a place to hang stuff!
Now just need to find a used mini-fridge.....[:)]0 -

Just built a 40x40 with a 20x40 lean too, currently working on a 12x20 tool room on the iinside of the 40x40 [:0][:p][:D]
going to have work benches inside the room. be my little piece of paradise that and my dog house when the wife gets ticked at me [}:)][:D]0 -

I can walk in my daughters pawn shop and buy as much stuff as i can carry in 3 trips for about 10 dollars.
My daughter the manager can not wait on me so i go to Laura the assistant manager and the more i tell her how beautiful she is the cheaper the prices. LOL
I have at least that many c clamps, files, pipe wrenches and over 2000 sockets and 1500 wrenches.

had my shop/storage built many years ago and stretched to get it paid for quick...54x70 with only the first 30' concrete & rocked the rest because concrete was $24 a yard hauled in and finished...STUPID...now it is $120 a yard 0
