China proposes to launch Bright Artificial Moon

Not Science Fiction. Not on launch but direct the light to cover the city.

?Wu introduced that the brightness of the ?artificial moon? is eight times that of the real moon, and will be bright enough to replace street lights,? the paper reported. ?The satellite will be able to light an area with a diameter of 10 to 80 kilometers, while the precise illumination range can be controlled within a few dozen meters.?

    I'm picturing a big ass magnifying glass. Also when it malfunctions I'm imagining me as a kid cooking ants but it'll smell like Chinese.

    And if you want to take out an aircraft carrier or a sub tied up at dock you just narrow that beam down and POOF!
    I see this as a test of concept for a future weapon. Hope we have a way to kill it if they build it.

    Reminds me of this crazy guy in the mountains. He said to pump water into space and it would make a reflective moon. He was way up on the spectrum

    Yeah steal the technology and weaponized it for the Communist government that we supported and turn a blind eye for money and profits and our beloved citizens sacrificing their lives in Korea and Vietnam while politicians reverse course and sold out its commitment to our Flag and country.

    Just something to think on There are now whole cities that are doing away with overhead street light or at least a certain color of light. Cause it lightens the night sky and makes it hard to see the stars.
