Nope, this is the first place I didn't own my own tank. It costs me $50.00 a year rent. A new tank is $1,600.00 and I'm 79 so I think I'll just keep renting. The first propane I bought was .11 cents a gallon in 1966. I thought they were ripping me off.[:D]0 -
I think the lowest I ever paid was 48 cents a gallon. When you think about it, LP is just a byproduct, in manufacturing process. I think they use to just burn it off. 0 -

we have our own tank came with the house ( If I remember the tag is just about gone but its like a very early 1960"s or older build date
every so many years one of the propane company want to run a pressure check found a leak in the main valve around the threads . ever so slight
they dropped one of there tanks and filled it we used up all left in our tank and had the vale replaced suggested it was the best way to go , we do trust them as we know the service man and the company has always treated us right .
I think we same .05 cents a gallon from all the company by owning our tank and have the option of having any one fill it
about 5 maybe 7 or so years ago we bought a wood pellet stove so we balance ( go with the cheapest ) out the winter depending on the price of wood pellets or propane or both if real cold0 -

Nice....summer prices here are $3.50 per gallon...Amerigas straight up bends it's customers over...I've been contemplating switching companies but that will cost $1200 or more to do that...hell Amerigas is going to charge me $159 fee to pump out the remaining 20% so they can resell it....freakin ridiculous. I also depend on propane for heat, cooking, and drying clothes here in the boon docks.
My pig tank is located way down on the bottom of the hill (for easy winter filling access) and a good 1\8th or better of a mile away from the house. I have been here for 3 full winters and so far no problems with the set-up.
The tank is also rented and the propane company lets me know by late summer what the coming seasons locked in rates will be. Last year was 1.59 a gallon, up a dime from the previous season. My tank is equipped with an electronic monitor that the propane supplier always knows how much fuel the tank contains and they top me off monthly during the entire heating season.
I always get a lot of mailings from all of the many propane distributors in the area. Quite a few have better prices for one time fill-ups, but I'd have to buy a tank in order to switch company's.
I really hate the fact that I have absolutely no control over the wims of future costs from an industry that rolls along like a roller coaster![V]0 -
I think that Florida has the highest price of propane in the nation. We are way over 4.50 per gallon the last I checked. I too rent the tank at $6.00 a month. 0 -
just had my tank filled yesterday , summer fill price $1.089 ,, if i prepay for this winter it will be $1.499 or i can pay a small fee and get locked in with a cap of 1.549 0 -
JUST CALLED MY SUPPLIER (OWN TANK) $.99/GAL FOR A MIN. 300 GAL FILL WITH PMT IN 10 DAYS. 0 -
Our Blue Flame dealer was bought out by Suburban Propane 2 years ago. The first year BF filled it up for $.99 @ gal. Then the price steadily increased over the years to $1.89. Then Suburban took over, now we prepay at $2.19.[V] This is in western Ohio.
BTW we rent our tank.

i have prepaid home and lake place for years now...winner...had both in at between $1.30-1.40 one year when it went up to $4.00 here...both dealers will refund what you have not used, buy something else, or leave it in to be applied at next winters price per gallon...i just leave it in and add up to my usage estimate...paid off every year but one when the price dropped about 15 cts below contract 0 -

Even with my costs at 1.59 a gallon last winter, my average monthly consumption charges were around 375.00 dollars a month.
If I had to pay over 5 times that to keep warm, I'd just burn the place down and live in the camper![xx(][xx(]0 -

My god have they no conscious? Thank god I have natural gas. Last winter the highest monthly bill was <$80 in northern hellinois.

I find this ironically funny! I have not bought a banana in over 2 years since my Golden Retriever "Archie" died.
I do like bananas but they remind me that I had to share each one I peeled with ole Archie who truly was a wonder dog! [:)]
Missing him so much that I have totally shunned bananas and the last time at the grocery store I was shocked that they had gone to 59 cents a pound when they had stayed consistant at 54 cents a pound for several years!![V]

Hell I was looking at Suburban and they guarantee $2.59 a gal....which is cheap for around here...much less than I am gonna pay with Amerigas0 -

i have bought several 500 gallon tanks for $50-$100 and then redo on the fittings and put a wet leg in if needed to fill my own smaller bottles...the first propane company when we bought our lake place jacked the annual tank rental to about $100 so they went gone fast...put my own tank over there....one neighbor here still has the little copper line from tank to house which i think is unsafe but ??? i use black pipe and now there is a plastic??? line out that you cut to length and push on fittings that latch permanently in place..buried 0 -

I am wondering what the differences are? Transportation costs? State Taxes and fees? Georgia is significantly lower than VA and TN...NC is lower as well.0 -
i guessed a 100 watt bulb was sufficient winter heat in florida with carry over from summer 0
