i have in the past taken coins and goldplated them and inset them into pistol grips with dyed accuraglas..have forstner bits to match diameters...one favorite was a mexican centavo with the eagle and snake..can you suggest any others with a really neat design and sized about right...been looking for another plating kit as the old one is used up..it had chemicals for 5 diff metals and a metal handled brush you were to hook up to a battery but i used a small voltage transformer like a charger and this sped things up and really did a nice job .machined up some barrels to make buntline revolvers and set these coins flush in the grips

    I met a girl that would use small saws and cut out coins to make cool jewelry. The best I saw was a Mexican coin that had a eagle on it and she cut around the eagle. It was cool.

    Maybe 50 dollar buffalo gold coins?? You wouldn't have to plate them.. Might work better in a larger rifle stock though.. Just a thought..

    I have a Colt 1911 I removed the grip medallions and installed 2 VG 1911 U.S dimes on (not plated), did have to enlarge the holes a tad though, everyone compliments me on the looks and wants to buy them, "nope" is my answer.

    many years ago i had this nifty plating kit by Texas Platers Supply ..bottles of the chemicals, brush, etc...simple worked great and only cost $40...haven't found another quite as efficient even counting inflation...still looking...the gold was 24 karat, really should have been 10-14 for more wearability, but sure looks nice, never learned how to do pics... one was a ruger 22 bisley ...about a 12' barrel with ramp and hooded bead front and buckhorn style insert in the rear sight...rechambered the cylinder to 22 magnum (it was long enuff) and set the cylinder gap at 0.003-4" and did fine indian head gold plated pennies in the grips...just for fun....me, phone. computers and some credit card gizmos are not very compatible...found some nifty italian pewter buttons ? (buck deer shape, lizard, others), ground the back loop off and used a tiny air drill to grind out the shape and inset those

    I think that would look really cool in the side of a nice lever action...maybe a winchester 94?

    I like the Euro with the man in motion. I think the center can be punched out or the outer bit cut off to get to the center.

    Back in the day I used to collect. I liked the ones with fish and other wild life coins. These days one doesn't have to get a book of world coins to see what was made. Just image search on line and buy it on ebay.
