Denture ???
My dentures of 20 years still fit fine...Twice broken the lower because I dropped them....My Dentist wants $2,400 to fit me with new ones,,,saying they get more brittle with age....opinions of any experience would be appreciated....

Does your state allow "Denturists" to practice? If so they provide dentures magnitudes cheaper than a "Dentist". My parents both had dentures made by denturists, and never had a bit of trouble.
I don't think every state allows them to practice though. Might be worth a trip to a neighboring state if you're close.0 -
Same story here. 17 year old full dentures.
I dropped the top one and cracked it in half.
Now don't flame me too much on this, but I just took my
dremel tool and ground the mating line to a chamfer, then used
super glue to glue the two halfs together.
That repair has lasted 2 years now!!!
I spent 22 years grinding and welding cylinder heads for race car
engines. 9500 rpms, 245 degrees temp, 14 to 1 compression ratios.
What's so hard about a plastic plate with some white teeth in it???

Mine are 29 years old, I got them back in the summer of 1991 after I got in a car wreck, I needed a full upper and a partial lower from my canine lower tooth to my other canine lower tooth. I've never had them fitted or adjusted except for the initial adjustment shortly after I got them to take care of the swelling... They still fit me fine and I don't need to have denture glue to hold them in, and I can eat an apple, corn, or anything else with no problems. 0 -
I've had a full upper and lower partials for about 15 years. Now I need to get a complete lower as I've lost 3 teeth over the last few years and the lower I have now is losing support. If I talk to fast the lower will try to come out. Its gonna cost over 5K to just do the lower. They have to pull the 3 teeth I have left and they will pull those and put in a complete new lower in the same day. Tomorrow is trip # 4 of the fitting process and I will see a surgeon in late Feb.
The only good thing is I have only paid $222 in out of pocket expenses. The timing on this was good as I used up the $3500 dental insurance from last year. Now I'm working on this years insurance. This whole process won't be complete until sometime in March.0 -
Prices have come way down here,,My son just got full permanent implants for $2500,,he got his knocked out in an auto accident a few years back and was tired of dentures,, Same place offered me lifetime warrantied dentures for $1600 or 3 year warranty for $800 full set,,I think chains like Aspen dental is under $2000 for a full set 0 -
Medications ruined all my teeth. Many snapped off, fell out, or split.
no funds and no insurance.

My wife had all of her teeth pulled and a complete set of dentures installed 2 years ago. The nightmare continues!!
After spending a bit over 10k, her lowers have never fit properly and she has been back at least a dozen times to the dentist for refitting's. I always thought her new teeth were made too big but her dentist has blamed all of her problems on her lower jaws bone shrinkage.
She has tried in vain to keep her lowers glued in with about every brand of goo crap that is on the market. Nothing is working and she has been pretty much on a soft, mushy diet these last 2 years.
This year she asked me if she could have a new set of lower dentures made. She knows it will be expensive and hates having to put our fixed income through another test. I could not say no, having seen her suffering all of this time, but sure hope that a new set will fix her problems!!0 -

If your son got a FULL SET of permanent implants for 2500 he must have held the Dentist at gun point. ONE implant with crown is usually more than that. A full set of implant supported dentures can run as much as 25K a plate.

Four years ago had all mine pulled (23 of them), got complete uppers and lower, $2300 otd. At Univ of Ala in Birmingham school. 0 -
never thought about a used denture store...bet the politicians would make some law against it exempting themselves if found to be profitable 0 -
