    Wife and I went out to dinner at a restaurant in the mall this afternoon. Since it was Veterans Day I wore my Vietnam Veteran ball cap. After eating, the waitress brings the bill and says it has been paid by someone who wishes to remain anonymous. I looked at my copy and written across the top was "Thank you for your service". I nearly cried right there. I am a happy veteran today.

    I wish I'd had the chance to do that ....... but if the opportunity presents I'll follow that good folk's example and do the same. We owe you a debt we can never repay. We will never forget.

    Took Mom and her husband to lunch yesterday, when she asked where I said anywhere that isn't giving away a free veterans lunch. She said "why not Stan, you and Kristina are all veterans it will be less expensive".

    Yes but it will be packed, we went to the Marsh View in Murrells Inlet and had seafood baskets and drinks, very good food and no crowds at all.

    Interesting place, you have no servers, you place your order at the bar and get a beeper thing, you pick up your order at the window when it is ready. I've seen a similar situation in Charleston at the Royal American, works for me.

    Her husband is a Korea war vet, he served on the Carrier Lete (sp) I served on the Ortolan and my daughter is currently Army reserves.

    I've had that happen a few times while working. It is a nice, but uncomfortable feeling. I usually give the meal amount as a tip to the waitress. It is great for someone to acknowledge it.
