I like fruitcake. Sherri bought me a deluxe fruitcake before Christmas but I wait until after Christmas when the stores mark them down. Bought two at Walmart this morning. One went in the freezer for later and I had a piece of the other for lunch. Yummy.

My Grandma used to make them. It was a very long drawn out process and it was always fun for me because My parents would put me the train with some whiskey to take to grandma because she lived in a Dry County in MS.0 -

I like Fruitcake also! My wife makes me one every year about 2 weeks before Christmas (my mom's recipe). After it comes out of the oven and cools, my wife wraps it in wax paper and then foil and it sits wrapped up for a week to season, and then I dig into it! [:p] 0 -
Only one I like is my moms. She bakes it then wraps it in brandy soaked cheese cloth for a couple of weeks. It is very good. 0 -

I too love a good fruitcake.
The ones my Grandmother used to make should have handles on them to carry it with, they were full of all sorts of candied fruits and such.
Have to rely on storebought now as no one in the family makes them. Another Christmas kitchen tradition gone.

I haven't had one in years, but I used to get them from Collin Street Bakery. Those were good. 0 -
DP- grandma used to make them like that- light colored cake, but lots of fruit, nuts, and a bit of rum. About 5,000 calories a slice, but Lord they were good! 0 -

I would rather be circumcised with a shard of broken glass, than eat fruitcake.
Except the one my wife makes for her mother every year.
It's a CAKE, with candied fruit in the mix.
No 30 year shelf life, but plenty of rum!
The ONLY fruitcake I've ever enjoyed.

Local Store was selling them by the Slice. I do like fruit cake but can only take about a slice a year. If I got a loaf I would waste too much. 0 -
Fruit cake was a big family tradition for me growing up. I had to pick out all of the crappy tasting candied fruit before eating that stuff![:D]
