"Ring" doorbell question
Is the "Ring" doorbell always running or does someone need to push the button to activate it?
The commercial shows a "Porch Pirate" pushing the button to see if anyone is home. The homeowner then gets notified on his Smart Phone and yells at the would-be thief.
What if the thief doesn't push the button? Is it motion-activated and will the homeowner still be notified of someone on his porch?

Hey, I'm gettin' down to last minute too, and may have to take drastic measures![:D]0 -
Doorbell works great, motion activated to turn on camera, when some one rings, you get an alert though the app on your cell (which you can turn off) and you can answer from your phone, they never know if you are home or not. We also have the cameras with lights, I am a little less happy with those, the covered area for the lights does not work all that well and we get the carport lights on at night if a car goes by in the street, though the sensor should exclude anything on the street. Perhaps reflected light, I have not been able to fine tune it away.
You do have to have a smart phone and download the app.0 -

A buddy of mine has two very attractive daughters, ages 19 and 17. He has 8 ring doorbells around his house, each with a different ringtone on his phone.
So far, no nocturnal visitors..[}:)]0 -
He has 8 doors? Or is he just using them as cameras? 0
