Finished my Podiatrist appt. Stopped at an Opthamologist for an eye exam and possible eye surgery referral.
Yep. He confirmed my vision has deteriorated to an unacceptable level. "Glasses are not going to help you, you need surgery. Legally, you should not be driving." [:0][B)][V]
Having lunch at the Harbor House in Abingdon, VA. (Seafood)
Headed to Bristol to an Eye Surgeon/Specialist for an evaluation.
This is not a surprise, I saw this coming. (Get it?) [:o)]
The fun never ends. All Dr.s today have been excellent.

Too funny. Another LOL. [:D] just had another eye exam w/ dilation at the surgery center. They have me at 20/80. Not legally allowed to drive. [:0][B)]
They just moved me from the general waiting room to the surgery needed waiting room. (Surgery consult to follow.)
Forgive any spelling errors. I can't see crap right now. (Even worse than normal.)
Good thing I can enlarge type on my Tablet.
Magazines and newspapers are a no go anymore. [V]
I've got 4 different problems going on, not just cataracts, all contributing to failing vision.
Cataracts,(milky/like sandblasted glass.) distorted "warped" lenses, Protein accumulations (White spots on the rear of the eyes. Same with the middle part of the Eye. Huge # of black floaters. (And) That is just what i know prior to getting in to see (?) The Surgeon/specialist.

We're you livestock or a dog it might be past time to have you fixed or put you down as a precaution...
But I have stuck with a dog through near blindness and a limp so perhaps not yet for you either

Sometimes I deal with death so much on a face to face basis my dry humor may come off badly
That's one issue I don't deal with - as I still at 47 have near perfect hearing and vision (which has declined somewhat in later years - but still puts me in the top 1% category)
One hopes the docs have been positive in not only stopping your decline but in greatly improving things or they would not being looking to perform these procedures - would say so up front of pressed by you
Though I will admit that when my radical course of platinum based chemotherapy caused transient blue / yellow color blindness and other visual deficits it bothered me greatly - was nearly a tipping point for me

The good news is the Eye Surgeon said he believed he could take care of most of my issues and greatly improve my vision.
He was also quite interested in my Occular issues. Said they were "Highly unusual. I do not believe I have seen anything quite like that before." Called it "atypical colloidal cataracts, with other issues involved. Most unusual."
Took lots of photos, just like they did in the Army when I was attempting to get through a flight physical to enter Rotary Wing Flight School. That was when my issue, (which has deteriorated greatly since that time.) Was first diagnosed. (1984.) Same thing Army Eye Dr.'s took tons of photos. All the while murmuring "Most Unusual."
Surgery scheduled for Nov. 3rd. Soonest I could get it done. Dominant right eye first, left to follow.
The Cataract surgery posts on here have greatly interested me, and finally spurred me into proceeding and getting something done.
I was surprised my vision had deteriorated to such a level. 20/80. I guess you compensate and get used to things as they gradually progress over time.
It's past time to address it.
I can not wait to see what I have been missing.

On the plus side, I feel MUCH better about the glasses I've lost or broken over the years, that did not seem to make much of a difference.

Now, while your laid up, Buddy can add seeing eye dog to his talents too! But seriously, how long will you be out of action as far as your vision goes? Is Buddy gonna need looking after? 0 -

As Barz has alluded to, it is an outpatient procedure. Just need a driver for that day and the next day for a check up. Surgery on Thurs. Able to return to work Monday. One eye at a time. Said I will be in the Outpatient Surgery Center anywhere from 1-3hrs. Actual procedure approx 15-20 minutes. The only reason I could not drive myself home is I will be sedated. Legally you can not drive for 24hrs.
Buddy is busy getting pampered and loved as usual. I should have it so good.
I feel good about moving forward on this, I've let it slide way too long.0 -

I have had vision problems all my life but to vain to do anything about it until I was drafted for military service many years ago . about 8 years ago both eyes 20/200 without correction 20 40 with correction
this at a time when I was shooting Bulls Eye Pistol in the master class
then all most over night developed floaters had second thoughts about having any thing done about that . but did have operation that was 100% great then had lens implant and with out correction right eye 20 15 left eye 20 200 without correction y 20/20 with correction damn wish I had had eye surgery years ago0 -
