Correct. There were many reports of e-mail problems but it more or less came to a head in the Summer of 2014:

As you stated, The Captain insisted that it was the fault of the user's email server, but claimed he'd have someone at GBHQ "look into it".
I guess they stopped looking...if they ever started.0 -
I found out quite some time ago why I never got any answers. My E mail address is obsolete & I can't change it. They tried but finally gave up. 0 -
forums generate income ...got lots of GOOD advice on GO or NO on items to purchase......from GunBroker 0 -
The software that runs this site, is where the problem lies. I have emailed members here, that I already had an email address for, a couple of weeks ago. If anyone was knowledgeable with this software I am sure it could be "turned back on" but for some reason they do not want us to be able to communicate with each other outside of posting here. 0 -

It could be they think that if we could communicate to each other outside of here, that we would be buying and selling from each other without going through the auction side0 -

At that time, possibly earlier still, this was basically the only site I had trouble sending emails from, but it was "obviously on my end". Then came the threat of being banned while trying to stress that it wasn't the fault of my computer or connection. Threats like that are always a great way to keep someone from telling you to fornicate your hat.0 -
