Well, I am home for a one week vacation, love to hang out here at my custom built log cabin in the North Carolina mountains.
This year we had a bunch of rabbits. We had big Daddy Rabbits, we had middle size teen age rabbits, we had baby rabbits.
In June, I could go for a walk on the drive way and walk up within 15 feet of a "teen age" rabbit about 3 pounds. Then he would just hop away ten feet into the bushes, not really scared.
Well, we don't have any pet dogs or cats, our beloved doggie died two years ago, these rabbits had never seen their Daddy shot with a .22, never had seen their mother ran into the woods by a dog, neve had seen their sister hit in the head by a rock thrown by a kid. These were innocent animals.
We had at least 10 rabbits here in June I thought of them as pets, I really enjoyed looking at our pet bunnies.
Well, I am gone most of the time in the Big Rig, I came home in August one weekend and did not see a single rabbit. I knew that something was up. I told the girlfriend, it might be a Red Tail Hawk, or else, must be a coyote. Not too many coyotes around here, because the Madison County hillbillies shoot coyotes on sight.
Two days ago I was driving down the drive way, I had been here for 2 days and had not seen a single bunny, and there, in broad daylight at 11 am in the middle of the drive way, was a bob cat. I saw this guy the same moment he saw me, and he did a 180 turn in the blink of an eye. I saw him for about 3 seconds more as he hauled ass over into the woods.
What a magnificent creature. About 35 pounds. Beautiful dark brown fur with black spots and a bobbed tail.

A mounted Bobcat is very impressive.
And that delicate white meat is oh so tasty, yum, yum, yum.0 -
Bobcats can kill 10x their weight. Had one walking to my deer blind up a lane 2 yrs ago. I waited till it was 100 yd away. A doe had just went by the stand and it was tracking it. The .308 put an end to that !! Kitty never seen it coming. Walking in while dark..have the rifle shouldered and a pistol in hand. 0 -

I have to admit, I don't tend to think of bobcats as Big Cats. Cougars, yes. 0 -
I've seen a few big ones. They looked a lot bigger when I called them in without seeing them, until they were right behind me.
A 48.9lb Bobcat held the record from 1984 until this 63lb was killed in WV. That's a big kitty!

Only one I ever saw I thought was a big Kitty. But then I was in the 4th grade. I walked thru the desert on the way to school.
Saw what I thought was a lost cat so tried to catch it even had it cornered in an abandoned building. Lucky one of my teachers who was in the playground stopped me.
We then got a lesson in animals that roam the desert.[:D]0 -

Folks seem to think they are large house cats gone wild. Mine was only 35# but still a mean looking critter.0 -

Although that Cat is held way out towards the camera from the person holding it, distorting the size. That is one huge Bobcat. Impressive.0 -
I helped hand raise a young female. At 35 pounds (her, not me) I could still play with her, but carefully, they are strong and have all those pointy things. 70 pounds is twice her size, and darned big for a bobcat. Tigers can weight 600. 0
