Fall colors are out...

guntech59, I use to spent a lot of time going up and down the Northway, and in Warren and Essex counties. From your pic, does not seem like as many colors. 0 -

Generally not. If it was because of the dry summer they would have curled up and dropped green. The hot weather does make the trees shut down a bit earlier though. Awesome picture though, thanks for sharing..[^]0 -
Yes, it's because of a dry summer. (We're experiencing the same thing), a dry summer makes it to where the leaves don't last as long because they don't retain the moisture it takes to turn them the bright and brilliant colors they usually do in an average or wet summer from lack of moisture. And they will wither and drop sooner than usual. Mother Nature will protect the trees to survive by retaining her moisture so they can survive for many more seasons, than give up her beautiful colors for just one season, and possibly damaging the tree forever from Lack moisture and nutrients. But still beautiful nevertheless 0 -

We drove though the Cascade Mountains in Washington about a week and a half ago on our way back to Georgia and the leaves were at their peak in color. We saw some beautiful sights. 0 -

Same here up in Washington County on the Vermont border......all the leaf peepers from NYC area are disappointed.. 0 -

I don't know enough to say yes or no, but here's a pic from the same place last year. No filter used either time.
Looks different to me and I have noticed in person. Even others have mentioned it.

It mostly has to do with rainfall and temperature as the days shorten and nights cool.
Pretty photo, muted or not it is a lot more colorful than the desert here, which looks pretty much the same year 'round.0
