    Savage 99 in .308 killed my first deer with it and my son got his first with it .The day may come when I have to sell some of them off but that one ain?t going anywhere

    Firearms are tools.

    Like hammers, each have their own uses. You wouldn't take a 16 lb Sledge Hammer to build Fine Furniture, and you wouldn't take a brad hammer to tear out concrete.

    So my favorite firearm is one that's suited for the job at hand

    That may be true but, although I own many hammers, my favorite is a 20 0z. True Temper long handle Rocket. It works best for many projectts and has some sentimental value as well.

    +1 on the Savage 99 .308!

    I don't have a favorite gun. Most every one I have bought, be it considered collectible or not, has something special about it. Be it simply condition, or perhaps, an old period wall hanger that could double as a plinker, or one of extreme rarity in various condition.

    I don?t have a favorite rifle but the only rifle I ever owned that I truly hated was a PRE-64 Winchester 94. It might as well have been a single shot. It would not, could not, did not move one round from the magazine to the chamber. I ran out of gunsmiths in Tennessee. I bought it at the Navy Exchange at NAS Memphis in 1965 and thought I had struck gold.

    My final solution to the problem was I gave it to my brother-in-law.

    Customized 1903A3 2 groove bbl with synthetic stock and Burris Scope; it has accounted for many Caribou, moose and a few deer. It just seems to fit me exactly right and hit what I am shooting at.

    Did not see that coming. Since I load for the 444 it is a go to round for almost all game if I was hunting. It is good for all North American Game.

    Loaded with a 240 Gr bullet its really accurate too. The factory load is a little to heavy so it shots like a Mortar.

    Still have the first rifle I bought, a Rem 788 in .308. Wouldn't part with it. Or the other two in .223 and a custom .25-308. Or the similar action 582 .22LR.

    But absolute favorite? my Browning Micro Medallion Hornet, the fourth one they made. It wears a Leupold Compact 3-9X and it is simply the most beautiful, handiest, enjoyable critter getter ever. It is absolutely (I always hesitate to say this) cute. In a deadly kind of way.

    Sheridan Blue-Streak I got for X-mas in 1971 when I was six and mom and dad couldn't afford it, but I got it. It is still here and still killing tree rats.
