gas cans
today was hazardous waste day at the local recycle center
I had a stack of old car tires ( left over from my youngest son ) they charge 2.50 for car tires and 3.50 for truck tires to take them
any way I took in 18 tires today and while unloading I noticed several large 4x4 boxes / skids full , of plastic recycle items on top were a lot of the plastic gas cans from 1 to five gallon size some were missing the spouts and some had them ( the old style )
I ask If I could buy any the gal in charge told me take them no problem .. Ok free , best deal of the day [^]
I loaded up 10 [:D][:D][:D] and she changed her mind told me that was enough [B)][B)] she must have thought I was going to sell them and make a few bucks on there dime ,
but at least I have enough to last a couple years my sons and there buddies seem to borrow and never return them

I'm always on the lookout for old gas cans. My latest find is an old Eagle Funnelet Can that still has the measuring funnel. 
And it's as clean as a whistle inside.0 -
Yesterday, I knocked the dang plastic filter screen that was kind of attached to the filler port of my generator when filling up the gas reservoir tank! Using my freak'n new style twist and push gas can!
I had to insert the dang filler spout deep enough to engage it to start flowing and it pushed the screen down into the tank![:(!]
The tank is a full 5 gallon and to find it and try to put it right will most likely become a job not wanted. I would bet that these new styled gas cans have wasted and poluted more ground in spilled gas than any of the old direct pour spouts ever![:(!]0 -
I recently bought some new plastic gas cans. No way was I going to keep them with those new BS valves. Just a quick look on Youtube showed how to modify them and install vents. It took only a minute per can and now they work like they should. [:)] 0 -
I was surprised to see so many gas cans turned in to recycle
like I said I picked up about 10 1st they said take them [:p] I would say 15 or 20 more I could see ,
sadly I must have triggered the feeling if he wants them maybe I could sell them if I take them home . changed her mind about me having them.
oh well glad I got what i did no complaints

I put a flexible spout and a vent in my new plastic can and threw that POS spout the government came up with away.0 -

we have a few old metal gas cans around even a Jerry can or two
I agree with most the "new spouts" have spilled more gas tan any old one just another government experiment gone bad'
I try and keep about 20 gallons around in the winter more for the generator and snow blower just in case [:0] and of course the lawn mower and tractor in the summer . I keep some of the 1 or 2 gallon cans ( well plastic ) for my wife to use . its the least if she willing to mow and weed trim ..
I have been buying old style gas cans and spouts for some time but they do seem to walk away [:(] I like th eones with a handle on the back and top that seems to be a matter of preference among gas can users to what type they like
the free ones today [^][^] were the best deal I have had on them but local auctions or garage sales I use to find them for for 3 to 5.00 with the old fill spouts still on them .and still look if out
funny to me I never thought I would be seeking out gas cans at some point in my life [B)][B)]0
