SOmewhere around the time I was born

...in March 1958 this aircraft had capabilities that kept my parents safe as the Red menace was the topic of the day. It took a long time to develop, but develop it did.

This video has a lot of good old film clips in it for those that care about our nations history.

    My Dad worked on the B-36 at Convair in 1952. He worked on control cables in the wings. He said adjusting the cables changed with temperature so it was an all night job. He said he had never came so close to freezing to death than when he worked nights down on the San Diego bay.

    At that time Convair was working on a plane larger than the B-36. You could sometimes hear it when they would spool up the turbines. I heard that it never went into production.

    That documentary is great and the Ft. Worth History in there was really cool.

    I *think* that production facility is now home to the Lockheed Martin JSF production line.

    A few years back I got to take a tour of that place- over a mile long.

    When you (and I - 1957) were born that amazing plane was headed toward the scrap heap. The B-47 was the darling of SAC.

    Pops flew in B-29s, B-50s, B-45s, B-36s and RB-47's as part of SAC.
