What's your deer carry . . .

knife? I have 2 which are essentially the same 3 bladed leather cased knives. Browning "Sportsman" & a Remington. The blades are a "saw" to cut thru pelvis,
straight blade & one with a rounded end to open up for gutting purposes without cutting into the "guts". Just makes the job easy.

    Custom TAT drop point fixed blade knife with Big Horn Sheep handles.
    Wife paid over $300 for it 29+ years ago and gave it to me for my 30th birthday.
    Beautiful as it is practical.

    I have a Browning model 600. It's 3 bladed and like yours except it also has a gut hook on the back side of the gut blade with the rounded end. So it has 2 gutting choices.

    It's the handiest deer knife I've owned. I have a couple of Old Timer sheath knives in my pack but usually carry the Browning in my pocket. I bought one of these for all my older sons and my brother in laws.

    Bark River Knife and Tool, Fox River LT. A 3 3/4" blade and a nice belly for the gutting and skinning. It also helps that it looks good doing it. [;)]

    I carry an old packing house fixed blade boning knife, in an old rapala sheath.

    Worn down to next to nothing, but gets the job done.

    May have come from lkannes place, or one up to storm lake.


    Finish them up when i get home with a Dewalt cordless reciprocating saw, and a garden hose.

    Sure enough.

    Gerber Bolt Action Blade Trader I bought in the 80's. It has a saw, guthook, and skinning blade. Takes and holds a great edge, and weighs next to nothing. They discontinued it after several years, no idea why. It will be passed to my Grandson when I'm gone.

    Puma Bowie. I am sure better ones for getting the job done now but I liked the looks of the knife over 60 years ago and it has served me well. Grandpa showed me how to keep it sharp enough to split hairs. When I head towards breastbone with it between the V on my left hand I don't want to slip, else no finger. Don't have to reach so far for windpipe either with that long blade and heavy enough to cut through pelvis with a couple of hard whacks at hilt. What the heck, I am just an old fart and too old to change now.

    Either a Buck 119 or 110 . I also have a ton of skinning and deboning knifes that are commercial made

    I have two must carry knives, a Gerber and a Gerber folder, I like short knives for skinning and gutting. There is no way I could know a model number, they are 30 years or more old. Both have seen untold numbers of Moose, Caribou and white tail deer. I still have all of my fingers.

    Buck 102 or 110. I use a saw to cut off the feet and through the pelvis.

    I once skinned and quartered a deer with the large blade of a Swiss Army knife. It did the job.

    I made this skinner early last year and carried Every hunt I went on with my daughter, and finally got to use it to skin her first deer.

    Whatever is in my pocket. I've gutted deer with everything from a bowie to a small case 2 blade. Mostly though, its been my benchmade auto mini reflex...

    Carried the folding version of this for years. Gonna try the fixed blade this year

    This is a Jamin Brackett knife similar to the customs I carry. Jamin apprenticed under George Guthrie and makes an excellent knife.

    I also use a Havalon Piranta for skinning purposes. Most everyone in my hunt club has a Havalon after borrowing mine.
