Cops loose guns all the time. Leaving them in the bathroom is a popular place to loose them. I seem to remember the FBI is missing a bunch of guns as well as a lot of computers. 0 -

I never lost one, but when I started in law enforcement, we had to supply our own gear. When I had to lay out a week's pay for a handgun, I darn sure was going to know where it was at every moment.
That level of care and concern continued after I was issued a pistol in 2000, and I still have it and know where it is.
Loopy is like a lot of newer generation cops. She probably never handled a gun until she was issued one.0 -
In separate incidents last year, 2 uniformed federal police officers left their gun belts (with guns) in a restroom stall. These are only the reported incidents.
One of my neighbors, an FBI agent, had his company car stolen from his driveway. His issued HK MP5 was in the trunk. A week later, the car was recovered in the inner city; the MP5 was still in the trunk.
The number of guns lost by FLEAs is considered confidential. I suspect that number is small compared to guns lost by the US military in non-combat areas.
Don't even ask how many M16s & M4s loaned to the Mexican government are missing.
