Cabelas disappointment

Yesterday, a few of us took the two and a half hour drive to Cabela's in Hamburg PA. This is their largest store nationwide. We have been there many times before, Since Bass Pro shops bought them out, nothing is the same. All the Cabela's brand clothes and hunting clothes, are gone[V] The bargain cave is gone, as is a lot of isles and shelves. It is now just a Bass Pro shop, which I hate. They are only carrying redhead clothes, which if you want to dress like a yuppy with a pocket protector on your chest, then this store is for you. We stayed about half an hour and left. Cabela's is officially dead. RIP Cabela's, we won't be back again. !![;)][}:)][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][V]

    The Cabela's in Wheeling, WV is getting a facelift too. The bargain cave is gone and not a stitch of Cabelas orange in sight. What a shame..

    I've always considered both stores to be full price stores.
    Can usually find the same items cheaper elsewhere.

    That being said I do like Cabela's frequent Black Powder sale. It seems Bass Pro has kept the sale going so far.

    Atlantic City Bass Pro is a ghost town every time I been there.
    Got a good deal or 2 on sale but I don't see it surviving.

    Degenerate gamblers and the ghetto crowd don't do Bass I guess.
    Was surprised they carried firearms in the hood though.

    I needed their card to survive do to, no Union work, given to me. The new Capitol One card is really wonderful. Rates skyrocketed

    Thanks. I mean it - if a few guys are going on an excursion and you can tolerate my company and logistically handle picking me up...

    I have started dipping my toes in the pool of life - started to live again while I am happy healthy enough to do so.

    I would be honored to accompany any group you assemble.

    It would mean more to me than you can imagine and I know it's an imposition - I feel bad for avoiding you paying me a visit when I was at my worst - bothered by how close to death I appeared.

    That fact that you would consider driving my crippled and around and put up with me speaks volumes about your character.

    I have not been to Cabela's since I found Bass Pro. Buy most of my clothes there. Yeah yuppy I guess, but no pocket protector.[^]

    We have a small Cabela?s and a Sportsman?s warehouse in nearby Idaho Falls and I truly wish a Scheels would move in and run them both out of business.

    Over priced, under stocked .

    I stopped in at a Cabela's in I think it was Oshkosh, on my way back from Canada. I was looking for a new upland bird hunting coat with some orange they had one style only. A poor selection of them and nothing in a tall. I did put one on and it looked like 3/4 sleeves, the salesman said it looked good. Then went to their boot selection for some hip boots. Had trouble getting one of the salesmen to quit talking to each other to look in the back for a pair for me. They only had a few out front and none in the back he said. I was out of there in 20 minutes back on the road. I won't be stopping there again, since the selection is about zero. Now it makes more sense to me there was very little Cabela's stuff there, all Red Head, crap.

    I haven't set foot in a Cabela's since the hostile takeover by Bass Pro. That move decimated the economy of Sidney, Nebraska. Screw 'em.

    Last time I stepped into a Cabela's, I was greeted at the door by a nice young woman asking me if I'd like to sign up for a credit card and politely declined.
    Made it about 10 steps before a salesman approached me and asked the same question, politely declined again.
    Made my way about halfway through the store, another salesman asked, I said no...again.
    Just before I made it back to the reloading section, 2 salesman stopped and asked, and when I told the one guy no the other guy asked why not? At this point I'm getting a little pissed. I tell him it's none of his business.
    Finally I get back to the reloading section only to find out I need to go to the gun counter and take a number before anyone will talk to me about primers. But while you're waiting, can I interest you in a credit card?
    Yeah, I don't think I'm going back there again but the place was packed. Hey they even had a little diner and sold nuts & fudge!

    Cabelas was always a tad on the pricey side but their goods were high quality. Now the quality has tanked and the prices are still high.

    The Cabelas here in con. was one of the few good things here,in the state. The library actually is better.Making them work tommorrow till 6:00 pm seems rotten thou.

    I'm compelled to revisit this thread as I've recently noticed a serious decline in quality of the printed materials (e.g. catalogs) that I receive from Cabelas now.

    Marketing for Bass Pro Shops is clearly inferior and it's, I guess you could say, amusing that their means/mode of advertising was downselected as governing.

    Bass Pro Shop has been to Cabelas what Obama was to the US.

    In the early Years when I mail ordered from Bass Pro Shop I would drool over the pages. Not so much now.

    The Cabelas C&R policy has changed over the years too. Used to be "cash & carry" with the C&R, then your C&R had to be OK'd & kept on file. Now the Reno Cabelas, thanks to BassPro having shops in CA and subject to the heavy handed DOJ - no handgun sales with the C&R.

    There was a time when Bass Pro was the place to shop and their prices couldn't be beat. They had one store and most of their business was mail order only in Springfield MO. For a reality check, that was nearly 40 years ago.

    I can remember when Cabelas and even Gander Mountain were good places to shop. Both started as successful mail order firms. I quit shopping from all these places when they changed their business strategy. Greed, forgetting where they came from, and catering mainly to the Beemer driver sportsmen who sleep in motels rather than the woods.

    Careful what you wish for. Schools is double the price of everything compared to Cabelas. The Sioux Falls Schools is just a golf and shoe store, more like Dicks.

    What a shame. I was there about 10 years ago, maybe 8, and I was impressed with the selection, the cleanliness of the store, how employees really knew what they were talking about, etc. Beautiful facility and a first-rate shopping experience. Prices were a bit high, but completely understandable when you think about everything I mentioned.

    I swear, Americans won't be fully happy until 100% of what they buy is bottom-of-the-barrel made in China crap sold to them out of the trunk of some Pakistani guy's Honda.
